Not huge on the big spoiler or the new rims, I am big into the way your Iroc looks now, that look really gets me... something about original, but your idea's look nice. I do have a question... why does my signiture not include the pic I uploaded for the signature... haha I'm a newbie. Like you have a cool one. Where did you get your pic and how do you get it to show? Thanks!

There they will help come up with a cool picture and also help ya get it to show up... lol Uplaod ur picture to a site like photobucket.com (thats where i do mine) and then copy the Image URL and paste it in the signature box under your control panel. that should work for ya. -Matt

 

Haha, thanks! How's that 305 TPI? I'm swapping the stock L03 305 from my 1992 RS for an 88 Iroc-z motor tranny and computer. My 305 was really beat on before I got her, and the previous owners hacked up my computer really bad, so the timing doesn't advance, hence, a 13 second 0-60! The cam also has a flat... couple other small things too. Not worth saving the engine to me! The other motor has only 70,000 miles, all adult driven, and fresh heads. I have a video of my car's acceleration... watch and laugh! Lol

well the 305TPI i think is pretty nice. Id like to have a 350 TPI sometime and plan on getting one eventually. Its pretty quick in my opinion... (thats just me so lets not start a debate about that... thread has been cleaned once.) <- thats not directed to you either Aaron. Anyways it can scoot. What engine are you putting in? 305 or 350?

 

I wish it was a 350... It's a 305, with redone heads. Probably pushing 220-230hp. Last owners totaled the car shortly after the heads were done. Came off an Iroc in show room condition... I'll put a chip in it after I get it, I'll be seeing 350's in my rear view mirror lol.

hey man, cant wait till my cars done so i can pull up beside u there at tech and there will actually be 2 nice 3rd Gens in town, but i gota get to work.

 

I cant decide whether i like the spoiler, or I dont, It remeinds me of the 2nd gen high spoilers, and i really like those, I think im starting to like it, id get one but 300 is a lil pricy for me, I like hows its comming, the the pics with the primer spoiler, The car seems a little high, needs a drop. I prefer the stock hood louvers over the ones you got thought but thats just me.

 

Hey man, yea the 300 is high. And wasn't easy for me to pay either i had to save for a while. I have always wanted one. You i like both louvers and blisters but i just wanted somthing that updated the look a little while still keeping the stock lines of the IROC-Z. MY drive way is REALLY uneven but yea the rear sets up with the factory raked stance. I plan to level it out with the front end. -Matt

 

Yup looking good, Idk what your final decision is on paint nowm, but id keep it the original red, I really dont like red, like I have a jimmy and its red, and i just dont like it, But I Love the Red Irocs, I saw a 87 the other day for sale, but he wanted lik 3,800. and it wasnt in that good of shape.

I Like the red and black Irocs, I dont really like my white, but its ok. And are you planing anything with the engine?

 

well honestly the more i look at other irocs the more im unsure about the GTO paint. the simple bright red is nice. And i think that if its fresh paint it wouldn't look orange as some red thirdgens do. Honestly i will prolly keep the fatory red when the time comes but im just tossing up ideas. Same for wheels still thinkin I guess its not set in stone until you buy the stuff to do it lol. Well engine wise i would like to get somthing like a 350 TPI and either do some small power mods or maybe build a 355 TPI. Im just not sure yet, just depends on what i can get my hands on later. I appreciate the comments man Also before i bought this iroc i almost bought a white one. Lol i REALLY wanted it to but he wanted 3000 for it and it looked like it was in worse shape than this one. Granted this one has shown some little surprises the more i look at it... ex: rust and where it was hit at one time. but at least this car can be saved and i plan to keep one more out of the crusher lol Thanks man -Matt

 

Yeah same here, Like Im in Michigan and Michigan and its winters are VERY VERY Hard on cars, My car was originaly bought about 10 Miles away from me, back in 85. They guy I bought it from (it was his mothers car and she passed away in 1995 and gave to him) well he had a huge stack of all the documentation, every recipt, and eveything, over its whole life time, and one had some pictures in it, and had pics of the car getting repainted, and them cuting out some pieces, and welding in new ones, because of rust. And my car is actuly prity solid other wise, the floors are solid, But like the doors are actuly rusted out at the botum, But thats not as bad as some cars here, This one kid at school brought in a 89 RS that he bought, and omg it was soo rusty, every part of the car was rusted out, there wasent even any floors!
But with my car, Im trying to make it look the best stock, then do like a 350 stroked to 383 and build it up, but leave the body, wheels, interior, stock looking. Im just happy not I got room in the garage finaly today, and my new radiator came (old when went out, had a huge crack in it.

 

yea, well its good to know that there are ppl that want to save the old cars. Thats what im going to school for. Im trying to bring back the old worn third gens and give their flare back so people start saving them again. While im at school i am fixing mine up as you have seen -Matt

 

Yeah this one at school is like really bad, There isnt much left, Like the rockers, floors, rear fenders, are rusty as hell, and like i said there IS NOT Floor! But hes goin to fix it, Just a 89 v6 RS. in my eyes a waste but w.e, I guess he goin to be putting a 327 in it, I helped him unload it today. and the front clip on the car is off a 82-84.

But Id like to find another iroc, like a black blue, yellow or red one. And help it out.

 

I think you should post the one that's not being edited so at least we know what are the stuffs needs to be done. Anyways, red is way too common already.

 

sadly the night shots are the ones that are current. I dont have a camera at the moment so thats all i can do. As for the red im still considering a factor... around my town there are prolly 20+ third gens. prolly 1-2 blacks, 3-4 whites, 3-4 blues, couple green and teals, and like 15 red. So... i would like to stand out in a crowd And I have ALWAYS wanted a blue iroc. I have never seen one in person. SO im thinkin about making one. But the difference would be instead of IROC blue i would like to use Medium Quasar Blue Metallic.

 

yea... that was my thought. Its an awesome color that is factory fo third gens to.

 

WELL the mod bug has bit me... so i have been playin with PS and found a new idea that looks totally awesome and i personally think will look great. Check it out.

i understand the louver comment. I like them both but wanted something a little different. lol but cmon am i the only one who loves the third brake light. Its unique to the 86 camaros and firebirds only.

 

dont get me wrong the brake light is cool because its 86 only but it disrupts the flow of the hawks spoiler imo

what if you moved the third brake light inside the glass to keep it there but not disrupt the lines. I like the third light too, but he has a good point that there is alot of aesthetic work going on that clashes with the light.

 

there really isn't a way to move the brake light inside with out putting a 91-92 third light. Then it just wouldn't be the same. if i was gonna do all that i would just take it off completely. Im not worried about if its legal or not. I would still have the main lights but i guess im weird. The brake light fits the style for me. I think with some window tint would help it blend better.
