Not 3rd gen, but nice 4th gen

I took the IROC to the dealer last night for the code 54 issue. They called me and said they didn't get the chance to look at it and they were gonna keep it until today. I stopped in this AM, drove through the back lot and found a new 4th gen that looked very nice. It appears that Chevy brought the RS back for 2002. It is still a 3.8 liter, but the one I saw was red, TTops, leather, auto, SS Chrome wheels, and black heritage striping. The cost was $23k. It had badges on the fender that said "RS". It was a very nice looking car.

to my understanding the RS is now the base model for 98-up camaros and is only available with the 3.8l V6 you have to opt for the z28 to get the 305hp(???) LS1 and opt for the SS for the 320hp LS1

no the coupe is the base model, but the RS is the same as it was in the 60's, a "sport appearance package" I saw a sweeeeeet combo today, a '99 Z/28 convertible with the RS package, so it got the double spoiler, and the ground effects, but it was a z28. an SS with the RS ground effects would be a good idea @ GM. bring back the RS/SS it would cost them nothing.

The part you guys are missing is that the earlier versions of the RS had the ground effects. This car did not. If you just glance as it passes, you would think it was the Z28. The price was good though. I will try to get a shot of the car with the digital camera tonight when I pick up my car. It was drfinately sweet looking. It had a supplemental window sticker for the RS like the SS does. Could this be the new SLP edition RS?
