Heres the set on the MSE. Aluminum center and plastic sides. I think they are the interpart louvers. There is a little key to unlock the center and you can lift it up for cleaning the window.

I got a little key when I bought the car too. Dealer didnt know what it was for, guessed it was the louvers. They are easy to unlock to clean the window, but a bear to re-lock.

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
I just looked up interpart louvers and my key looks nothing like the key those take. Mine has a flat blade on one end, then each side has a shape like } { but one notch is smaller than the other. Stamped into it is the words SOUTHCO LESTER, PA. Maybe it has nothing to do with the car at all. It was on the PO's key ring when they traded in the car, so it stayed with the car through 2 dealers before ending up in my hands.

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
there are about 5 clips that grip the side of the rear window, and then these blade like things that slide in between the rear deck and the glass. The blades have a threaded post on them, and you put the louvers (with the built in holes) through the post, and then screw down a black nut on top to secure it
these things are a lot more flush than the aluminum ones, I think they are actually a better design in fit and function. visibility is not as good though

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
$50 off of Craiglist.
I bought them a long time ago and posted a pic of them in post #72 of this thread, but I took them off when I painted my car because the paint on the louvers didn't look as good as the rest of the car. I repainted the louvers yesterday, so I put them back on

I actually have Cragar louvers on the 85 Iroc I just picked up. Does anybody have instructions they can email me? I'd like to remove them, reprint them then re-fit them better.

Did I mention that I worked at a Chevy dealer during those years?
Well, my knowledge of how to delete a post seems to be about as much as my knowledge of Camaro option. :-(

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
I bought these louvers on ebay few weeks ago,
they were missing all of the hardware so we had to fabricate our own,
with some sandpaper and a few spray cans and they came out looking great, i love these louvers.

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
This isn't the greatest picture, but you get the idea of what you can see when looking into the rearview mirror. I was trying to stay out of my own reflection, so the image isn't the greatest angle. And you also lose the focus of the mirror itself.

They're in the garage and seen through the windshield. The ripstick, skateboards, etc were in front of the car. BTW, the car was moved in the garage for some detailing work when I took this picture. No bikes, skateboards or any other "kid" stuff is near the car!!!!

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
I haven't seen many cars with an MSRP of more than my car. The only ones I've seen are usually $15 more, because of the door edge guards, like yours.
I think it's amazing that in 1987, a $21k car was a very expensive car and few Chevrolets cost that much. That's equal to $45k in 2015 currency and most 2SS Camaros cost that or more today. That same rate of inflation would mean that you could buy a brand new Grand National for $36k in today's dollars.

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
I agree that is a lot of options. Nice car. I bought a new iroc in 1987 305 with four barrel no options I think the sticker was close to 13,500 I had the louver option on that one I think Cragar made them they where like the ones on your car came with a key to take them off. Some like louvers some don't I always liked them.....

This comes up regularly, so I want to clear this up.
The Cragar louvers were not the same as the factory louvers. A company called LTC Roll and Engineering made the OEM louvers. I have spoken to them about the mounting hardware and I was told that they no longer have the dies since the last sets made were in 1992. The costs to reproduce the dies out weighs the current purchasing need.

It's to bad you can't get them anymore the ones they make today just don't look good. The factory and the Cragar black magic were the best looking ones in my opinion.

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
I scored a factory set through Craigslist. I watch for cars for sale with the louvers, then contact the seller for just the louvers. It only took 1 (out of 4 tries) to find someone that said yes. It only took 2 minutes to take everything off. And the $200 I paid is $10 less than the option price!

Re: Post your pic of Rear Window Louver
Those look like the factory louvers. If you look at the bottom, there should be some 8 digit numbers stamped on them. Also, the factory louvers had 6 Allen head screws to secure them to clips that attach to the sides of the window channel and two that use double sided tape to attach to the back glass.
The color is satin black or SEM trim black.
