Neon underglow? *****, or Good?
Hey guys, kinda curious about something. I have an 89 Camaro IROC style, with underbody neon lights right now, but the passenger side dosnt work right, so I might buy a new kit.
Im just really curious if underglow blue on a white and black camaro is to rice'er like? Opinions?

Yeah, I wouldn't have underbody lights. It just doesn't seem right on these cars (maybe all cars...) Thats my 2 cents.

Its like britney spears, somewhat cool 10 years ago.
In other words, it was cool in about the early 90s when I would see it on older cars like a 30s ford show car who you know probably built a custom electronic circuit for the lights and all that. Now you can see them going on any car. Its a fad thats lost its dazzle, especially among muscle cars (or v8 domestics).

Re: Neon underglow? *****, or Good?
I would have to classify it as *****.
But I have seen it on a 3rd gen, with neon driving down the road during a dark rainy night on the main strip and it didn’t look half bad from the artistic perspective. The light reflecting off the puddles and the shinny paint of the car looked pretty cool. Wish I had a camera that night.
But in general I would say no to the glow.
But the park bench is even worse I have to say.

Re: Neon underglow? *****, or Good?
I guess I'm going to go against the census here....
I like them & will be adding neon or LED strips to my GTA. My only concern is, the kits you can buy are too short for our cars. I might just have my own tubes made. I can custom built a kit DESIGED specifically (tube lengths) for a 3rd kit for about half the price of a generic kit.

Well, even though I don’t prefer it, I would definitely not laugh at your car for it.
Now if you added a giant spoiler, or a fart pipe, or spinners, well then the ROFL will commence.

Funny....Do a Search on TGO for 'neon'...You'll find several threads asking the SAME thing. Some of the threads replies are 110% 'I love it'.....'I have it on my car' whereas as this thread is 99% R I C E R !!!!!!!!!

Re: Neon underglow? *****, or Good?
I would not put an under car kit on my car...
but if I had the want to, I would for sure go LED...
http://www.oznium.com/
Checkout the scanner video... near the bottom...
http://www.oznium.com/scanner
Their under car kits link up and do the same too...
They interface and react to music... I do have a small 6 inch spot light one that lights up bright white for 90 seconds, then cycles slowly through 16 million colors or so... I may put it in the engine bay to make the polished TPI & Procharger shine when I pop the hood![Smilie](https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I'm gonna go against the crowd ... i personally like it...if it's tastefully done. I have it on mine - i know a few others do as well. My car gets looks w/out it on , w/it on even more.

Re: Neon underglow? *****, or Good?
thats what i was thinking, if it looks halfway decent, then might as well, but like ezysk, if i get a huge spoiler spinners and a fat pipe, ide prolly laugh at myself
. anyways, i wanna say thank you to everyone for the response, LED seems like the way to go, but i hear that you need a few bars to make any bright light? Ill look around. Thanks again.
p.s. thanks for not laughing at my need to be different, and try something new to me.

Go for it, blue would look fine.. With a white and black car, almost any color would look good. And no I dont think it would look ***** at all, unless the car itself was *****.

Go for it! As long as you cant see the neon tubes or wires, it will look nice. I have red LEDs under mine and it looks nice and of course, it turns heads. Just do it right.

Re: Neon underglow? *****, or Good?
I think on a GFX car it can look good. But there is a catch. You have to have nice rims (but not ghetto bling) and you have to have really shiny paint. So basically they look great on a nice resto-mod IROC that is lowered too.
As for the neon vs. led, I personally think the neon tubes give a better look. I have seen them both, and I like the tubes better. However, they do break sometimes. And you have to make sure you really tuck them up in there, preferably I would put them right behind the pinch weld (but I dont have GFX).
KCobain's car above looks good, I just dont like the way you can kinda see the bulbs too much. And that green is a little bright.
Another thing that really makes it look good, is the color of the car. If you have a nice fire red IROC, get RED neons. If you have electric blue paint, get blue neons.

I like the look personally, but as stated, it definitely looks better when the paint is shiny. My bro has some rice with lights and his doesn't look good with faded paint.

Re: Neon underglow? *****, or Good?
my opinion, black almost goes with anything, (as does white) if the black paint is in good shape, and you wax regularly. I say go green, blue, or even white.

I had the 7 color change kit. And usually rode around with the red. My car looked pretty good with it. And idc if its rice or not. I paid the cost to be the boss of my car.
Go for it!!!! Going to put a replacement set on soon, they are so cheap why not

Re: Neon underglow? *****, or Good?
Im all for it. My dad has purple LEDS on his truck, a buddy has red on his truck(4inch lift), another has red blue yellow and green on his truck (12inch lift). I am going to be puttin orange on mine when I get it painted.
Just make sure you use LEDs not neon. I know people that got their neon tubes broke during shipping, if it cant handle shipping then do you really think you would want them on your car? I am also going ot be putting orange bars inside of the car as well.
