Rim Sandblasting

I was thinking of sandblasting, then clearcoating the rims on my 92RS. I'd then paint the cevter hub flat black and replace all the lug nuts. Anybody done this and how's it look? <:

Sand blasted rims look like *** . If you sand blast them, you're going to have to polish them to get any sort of shine back.
Here's a pic of the sandblasted Formula wheels that my IROC came with. NO shine at all.

Heres what you do,
Sandblast the rims to get rid of gunk, grime, etc. Then use 400 grit, then 700 grit, then 1000 grit, 1200, and finish them off with 1600 grit, then put some aluminum polish on them and they will look pretty AWESOME!!!, but just remember that this will take about 5 hours per wheel.

I don't know what these rims originally looked like. Were they shiny. I tried polish with limited success. They seem to be a dull aluminum which is why I thought the sandblasting would work.
