Headlight covers, anyone?
>Does anyone have a good, working design for a clear plexiglass/lexan headlight cover for our camaros? On track days, my 'glass hood's corners actually lift when I pass 90mph....the drag must be huge as well. I see from the old IROC days, their cars all had covers on to streamline the nose. Anybody out there with covers on their cars? pictures? designs? I know GTS makes one design, but I hear they tend to blow away at speed! I guess I could tape it on the car..........

Re: Headlight covers, anyone?
here's a couple of shots of some GTS headlight covers that I recently installed on my 87..I used 1 inch hinges on the bottom. they are screwed into the headlight cell. The black adheasive strip i put "under" the sides of the cover to keep them from falling in. The hood keeps them in place at top. I don't think these will blow off, but I'll let you know after I run it around watkins glen this spring. Pat

Just the rubber of the nose! I used very small sheet metal screws.....they were only twice as big as the kind that hold your glasses together......I might actually run some tape along the bottom edge on track days.....i think they will clean up the aero of the nose.....the factory setup is kinda blunt in that area.....

Re: Headlight covers, anyone?
I have had them on my 3rd gen before and had nothing but bad luck with them. I bought 3 sets and they just kept flying off.
I was hoping to find a flexable black strip, shaped like the side brackets that I can stick down all around the light. This way it is held in on 3 sides. And would slide down into the mounts and when the hood is closed it can't come out. I also think it would be realy hard to steal?!? i think that would be the cleanest looking and that way there is no cutting or drilling of the bumper cover.

Re: Headlight covers, anyone?
well I'm hoping my setup works as is...the holes i drilled were so tiny, they would be pretty easy to fill. a black felt tip marker would probably suffice for touch up paint.........

Re: Headlight covers, anyone?
I had another thought; you might be able to contact GTS and actually buy more of the adheasive mounts.........I'll bet they would sell you some...
