Good paintjob = 1000$ +
Not so good = Maaco 250$ +

The only way you'll get a decent paintjob (that I know of) for little, is if you have your own equipment and know how to paint yourself.

If I were you I'd go with Maaco. It might me shI*&y, but for that price youc an get your car repainted every two years or so.

Besides my Maaco job came out pretty good all and all...

The only thing with Maaco, is to do ALL the prep work yourself, you'll be much happier with the finished product. Hope that helps

I paid $504 for Macco's second best level on a half price sale they had. The paint looks good, there are a few booboo's, but non noticable unless pointed out. I say it was worth the 500.

I did do my own prep work and looked at some of the cars they were working on. They had just finished the paint job a a black with gold stripes 65 fastback mustang that was the same level as mine. It looked pretty good so I had em paint mine.

Mines a daily and I couldn't justify spending 1500-2000 for a "quality" paintjob on a car that only worth 3500

What's Maaco's highest level cost? How long would it take me to prep it myself? Do I only have to sand, prime, and mask or is there more? Thanks.

I think it was 1400 here in oklahoma. The 2nd level I got was normally 900. I suggest removing all the lights from the car and taping the edges of the headlights when you drop it off. Also tell them you won't tolerate any overspay. They had some overspray in some spots on my car and I had them remove it.

Well if I do go to Maaco I definately won't stop bugging them until I am happy. I heard they suck, but my car is a daily driver so I don't need a show car paint job. How long do you think their best would last?

Do it your self!!! I'm in the same boat and it, you do it carfully you get a $1000 paint job for $500. I am doign the masking, prining and sandind my self but I am getting a friend that just painted his Mustang to do the actual paint. I am also painting and masking some srtipes to. Regular price $1500, my price $500! Thats a grand, that I don't have, but if I had it it would be better in my pocket than some paint guy. PS - Final sanding, po;ishing and waxing will look 10 times better doe by yourself!!!

If you have a local community college with a body repair technical school they are always looking for cars for their students to practice paint prep and application. You pay for materials and you get a paint job. Sometimes you get talented kids doing the job and the paint comes out fabulous.

If you're looking at a body shop and you want a really nice job you can count on a starting price of $3000. But frankly, $1500 is a great break point where you get a good paint job but not paying through the nose.

i'll have 2 agree with EVIOLFACE

go to Maaco and get one of thier better jobs
not their $$189 special that WILL last for a month !!!!!!!!!
do all the prep work yourself

i got the 2nd highest Maaco job one year ago
i didn't do any prep work (only cuz i'm 17 and living under moms rules) BUT the job came out really good no chipping or nothin and thats one full year later

i mean they did spray my weatherstripping a little but the car is a daily driver

BOTTOM LINE: show car= Megabuck Paintjob
daily driver/restore factory looks= a Maaco job will suffice

just my two pennies

Hey Guys,
Guess what? I work at Maaco, and you guys need to quit ragging on them. For $200 your just gonna get a quick paint job. Just a little hand sanding and cheap paint. Now if you buy the $400 plus jobs (i think they go up to $1500) your car will be looking like a dream. The more prep work you do the cheaper it will be, for example take off the ground effects, hood louvers, spoiler, maybe hand sand it with 320 grit to get a good base to start with..... Just to let you know we paint bad @$$ show car vettes etc, Shoot yesterday worked on a red 3000GT that was just show car painted yesterday. NICE, engine wasnt too powerful, but it looked Awesome and the Iteriors are really HIGH CLASS SPORTS CAR. ANYWAYS... Quit Dissing on maaco. They are proffesional painters and bodyworkers. You get what you pay for, and yes they paint SHOW CARS.

Hey,
Well im actually only 17, and have only been working there for about a month. I am very impressed with their paint jobs, especially the $200 ones. I dont see how they even make money off them. It takes a lot of work to get one ready to paint.... sanding cleaning, taping, usually some dents/bondo/primer then the paint and clearcoat is very expensive. They do a good job and I would have no problem with them painting my car, and the JET BLACK paint on my car is almost mint. But i need my 92 Z28 Spoiler, 91 ground effects, big block hood, and the paint is starting to have stress fractures in the front. Of course i will get around a show qualtiy $1000 job... but since i work there, it will be around $300. The only reason I even applied there was so I could get all my stuff painted and save around $700-$1000. If I were you guys, I would go get a job at a place like that, get your car painted then leave.
TO answer your question, Yes we paint Big Honda spoiler, CRAZY HONDA ground effects kits, just quarter panels, etc. They would be glad to paint your ground effects. Just take them off and drop them off there and tell them the color. it should be around $125 for a real good basecoat, clearcoat.

For the other question, Yes they will put on just a clear coat. I saw a coupon a couple of days ago in the office for the whole job for $50...... once again, how do they make money off of this???
Well I gg, hope I answered your questions. Also I might be getting A Big Block Hood / SS Hood group purchase going here soon so email about if your seriously interested. It should be a pretty decent discount.
Heres the Big Block HOOD (My Favorite!!)

Heres the SS Hood
