Hope you didn't put the pearl in the paint itself. Pearl is suppose to be mixed in clear and shot over the base color, much like candy over a base. After the pearl/clear mix is shot, lay over the final coats of clear. Pearls are fine pieces of translucent mica that need light to show it's effects. That is why they need to be mixed in clear. Base colors, especially black, is too opaque to allow light transmission. That's why you can't see the effects of the powder pearl. The minute you shoot a coat of clear over that pearl base, you WILL see the effects of the pearl immediately. No need for cure time to see it. I've been painting custom paint jobs for over ten years and have always painted pearls this way. I've seen guys that have painted for longer that don't even know this about pearls and put it in the paint itself.
When I shoot pearls, I make a mix of over reduced clear (1 gallon worth) and "fog" coat the pearl mix over the car. Then top coat with clear. From my experience with House of Color or SEM powder pearls, one teaspoon to one gallon of clear is more than enough for dark colors such as black. Two to three teaspoons of pearl to one gallon of clear for light colors like white. Too much of the powder pearl will look milky and will ruin the effect.
If I were you, just take some "fine" grade scuff pads or 800-1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper and wet send your entire car. Do the procedure I described above and you will be happy with the results. E-mail me if you have any questions.

Hate to argue, but pearls can and do go directly in the paint itself. In fact, most of the stock Chevy Corvette Colors have pearls mixed into the color itself. I have a 75 Stingray that we painted a 94 Vette color, and the "recipe" for mixing the color calls for a lot of blue pearl in the color itself. Its a PPG #4798 Dark Cloisonne Blue. Pearl can be added to the clear for a different effect. See ya!

I think you guys are getting your terminology mixed up. It sounds to me like they put MICA in your paint. There aren't "pearls" to speak of. The "pearl" paint is a 3 stage paint system that includes a base color, followed by a "pearl coat" layer, then followed by clear coat. I put orange mica in my paint and found out the hard way that you need a TON of it or it won't show up worth a damn.
