What kinda milage are you getting out of that size tires on a 17" wheel? I finally have money to buy tires for my new wheels and the tire I'm looking at (BFG g-Force Sport) is about a 30k mile tire according to Discount Tire. Is that about average?

I don't want the KDWS, the guy at DT said he put them on his car and had to replace them 7 months later. I wanted the KDWs to begin with, but I also planned on getting 255 tires and they were $142 each, but then I found out that's about the minimum size tire for my 9" wide wheel and that the 275s would be the best size for this wheel and the KDWs are $191. I can't afford that and the adapters I need for the wheels too. I definately want a performance tire but I need a tire that will last too.
Just generally is 30k miles just what to expect out of this size tire, varying a little depending on driving? That's really want I want to know most at this point. I do like going fast in the turns (partly because that's what my car's good at since it has a V6 instead of a V8) and I rarely spin the tires (and when I do it isn't longer than a few seconds). The tires on the car now have probably lasted 20k miles, which is a rough estimate since they came on the car when I bought it, but they're also probably $50 tires at best.
EDIT: Anyone know anything about the Nitto NT555? I was looking through DT's web site and saw a section for tires they can order and found those. Not much more expensive than the sports but there's a bunch of reviews of people with sports cars getting 40k+ miles out of them. Guess I'll call tomarrow and see how long it'd take to get that tire in.

I don't know how many miles you drive yearly but lets say you put 10-15k, it'll still take you 2-3years to buy new tires. You will probably get more than 30k out of them unless you burn out a few times or spin your tires a lot or fishtail/donut a lot which isn't something you do with the more expensive tires. That's why you get cheaper ones. If those are the look you want, i'd say get them, you'll get more than 30k if you treat them right and maintain you cars alignment etc...

I've been burning mine off, but 8,000kms so far and I can just tell the rear ones are a bit more worn then the fronts.. and the fronts still look new.
Look into some Fulda Extremo tires.. very reasonably priced. I'm loving mine!

After checking out 1010tires.com I've decided against the Nittos, it doesn't look like they have much over the g-Force Sports so those are out. However, I looked up the Falken FK-452 that DC told me about and those look like they are better than the Sports for $4 less a tire but they are really more for luxury cars.

I run the 555's on my car in the 275/40/17 size and I love them.
I probably have about 10K miles on them so far and they are not even halfway gone and I drive pretty hard at least twice a day carving through the on/off ramps.
I like them better than my old KDW since they last longer and perform very similiar (KDW edges them out a tad).
