Very sharp car. is that a new paint job, or is that the original paint? very clean regardless, expecially if it's the original paint. take good care of it.

Beautiful car!!!

I find it rather curious that on a dark metallic red car with gold accents, you have a gray interior. On all 1987 and previous years, you could only get a beige interior with gold graphics....

great to hear that you like the car,……it´s the original paint and as for the interior, I never knew that on ´87 and previeous cars you could only get beige interior if you had dark metallic red exterior…… good to know though :-)

Alex,

You misunderstood me. I meant to say that on a car with gold accents, you can only get a tan interior. I'll give you some examples. You could order a white or black Z28 with gold striping/rocker panels but it only came with a tan interior. You could not get this car with a red interior (yuk!!).

Chevrolet did not produce any cars with "non-recommended" color combinations during the third gen years, so it's rather unusual to see a car with gold accents with a gray interior like yours. If you have your RPO sticker in your center console box, could you verify that your car originally came with a gray interior? It would be good to know, considering I'm very much into originality and derivations (mutations if you will). In fact, this topic would go great in my History/Restoration board which I moderate.

Those pin stripes could've been put on anytime after the car was produced. So it may be a factory sticker package purchased after the car was built.

If that is original, I can't believe GM would let one out like that. They were real uptight about what they let out and still are.

I think the RPO 19I showes that the interior trim is black.....as for the seats, they were the optional custon cloth seats in ´88, I think they all of them came in this kind of black/grey style..

Alex,

Wow!! You've done a very nice job with your RPO's. Most of us don't take the time or trouble to make the list.

So here is your answer:

As you state, you've nailed the codes. It indicates a black interior. From your pics, it appears the seats are the optional gray custom cloth. I have a picture of gray 1988 custom cloth seating. If you'd like me to e-mail it, send me an e-mail. There were no such thing as gray/black seats and/or interior.

Take a look at your carpeting. Is it gray or black? Also, look at the non-fabric trim (plastic with fuzzy stuff) on the seats. How about the front seat belt retractor housing? Again, it should be gray or black. Hope this helps in determining whether the interior is original or not.

Hey Willie,

the carpet and all non fabric parts are black, also the seat belt retractor housing.
The only think that isn´t completly black are the sidepanels in the front..... they are have the same combination as the seats, the 2nd half of them are black carpet.
