Re: CARBON FIBER Trim for dash
Well I feel like I am letting you guys down by not having this done yet. I had a really good friend of mine tell me some reasons why I should not use the carbon fiber, that I had not come up with yet. I plan on taping the whole kit to the dash, so ME & EVERYONE can see what it looks like whether I use it or not.

Probably glare, and the fact that its Rice! LOL.
I am not sure either. If you are going through that much trouble of getting it, might as well (AT LEAST) fit it over to see how it looks.
C'mon Brandon get off your lazy *** and put them on. Do I have to drive over there to get this done!

Re: CARBON FIBER Trim for dash
The main thing that he said is that it did not flow well with my interior. He said that when carbon fiber is used in MOST muscle type cars that it is used out of need (weight loss), instead to improve looks, and puts off the wrong vibe in my "Flashy" show car. If the whole car was moving to a more performance oriented "Race car" theme... brushed aluminum, race seats, cage, **** ton of gauges, it might fit better. I really trust the opinion of my friend (long time builder with multiple magazine feature cars) on this one and thats where I have taken his comments into consideration.
He also told me to get rid of the overdone billet steering wheel, and move to a more contemporary style wheel, cause it dates my car, which he thought that carbon fiber would also do.... I guess I will just have to see how it looks taped up.
Later,
B

I could agree on the steering wheel, but it does look bad ***. A momo wheel would look bad *** in your ride.
Plus, your ride looks BAD (as in great) to begin with. It has a mean stance. In which case I ask?? Why would carbon fiber be out of place?
Just fit it and quit it.

Geez it ticks me off doing all the reading research on this forum only to find dead threads and/or people not having the integrity to do what they say they will do, eg, following up with more info or pics.

I have a carbon fiber handled Benchmade knife, its finish is not reflective at all, I would love to have a dash pad like this. I had carbon fiber exhaust on a sportbike, it was matte finished too. Regardless of how any expert feels, do what you want. Its your car. I hope to see pics when you tape these pieces in...I like carbon fiber.

Whoa! I didn't realize the op started this nearly 5 years ago. Surfing the forums on my phone, and j can't "see" as much, ya know? I wonder if this kit ever was mocked up in the car, or what?

Being that was started so long ago things have got easier to do.
Google Hydrodipping.
This would be the best way to do it now. Matter of fact here.

Re: CARBON FIBER Trim for dash
Ya well you do know those KITS back in the day were just OVERLAYS that got stuck to the factory pieces.
like this http://www.godspeednet.com/servlet/t...o--Dash/Detail
Same with these DOUBLE SIDED 3m tape is used.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...sid=p2992.m753
You can see the edge of the material your sticking to your stock parts.
They are in no way REPLACEMENT pieces reproduced out of carbon.
Id personally rather have the parts DIPPED so you don't see any parting lines, etc. You can go glossy or matte finish for your personal preff.

Re: CARBON FIBER Trim for dash
Sorry to everyone else that didn't see that this was 5 years ago. I sold the kit to a friend on the east coast. I never saw it installed, and don't know if it ever was.
The kit as FSTFBDY states is a somewhat cheap overlay of actual carbon fiber, and the fit and finish when layed out did not meet the quality standards I was looking for, and I think overall would have made my car look cheap. I sold the kit for exactly what I bought it for, so no sweat on my wallet.

Re: CARBON FIBER Trim for dash
Sorry mate.
2 weeks of reading and getting nowhere just took it's toll.
I read with interest threads of information I'm trying to find that just stop.
Trying to do the right thing by searching before asking same questions.
I don't see anything wrong with reviving old threads instead of starting new ones, at least old threads may have some relevant info, sure beats looking at 5-6-7 threads on the same topic.
Thank you for the update and the reply to my private message, it is appreciated.
