Some freshly washed pics. Also my steps to renew paint...56k have a beer

Hey everyone. Just cleaned up my 87 TA today. It was 60 degrees and sunny all day...on Dec 17th... Crazy.

Anyway...hope you all dont mind a few pics. Thought she was looking pretty good.

My steps for making the paint look great are as follows.

1: Wash with meguires gold class soap and warm water.
2: Next is going over the entire car with magic clay clay bar.
3: This step really takes your paint back to a clean slate. I use Meguires "step 1" paint cleaner. It takes all of the water marks or any other marks out.
4: Wax with Meguires Tech Wax.

As you will see...does an old paint job pretty good

My hood believe it or not...

Another reflextion shot...with my ugly mug showing...

Ok...the rest are for your viewing pleasure. Any comments are welcome!

I know some of the front end parts dont look lined up correctly. I had all the inner bracing for the bumper apart while I was doing he engine swap...and I didnt take my time putting it back. However I have to rebuild my headlight motor soon...so Ill tweak it all then. Getting things lined up on these cars is sort of a pain. With the long hoods and all the differnt body lines.

Thanks for looking!

Justin

to be honest i didnt notice anything wrong with the front end until you pointed it out, and thats pretty much all that matters unless you take the car to a show. its not noticeable at a glance. Very nice car though, i really like the last picture

its been in the 60's here too! its never like this in decemeber in Indiana im not complaining though!

Z2EIGHT: Im in southeastern PA... So I doubt its the same park I wanted to get some nicer shots by some water, and further into the woods, but because it was so nice, there were people scattered everywhere.

Slayre: Thanks for the compliments!

rwdtech: Yeah alot of people dont see the weird gaps or whatever until I mention it. But, and Im sure everyone that likes their car will back me up on this, it stands out like a sore thumb to me. The body work on the car is about a 20 footer to be honest. And I only say that before of the darn stone chips and a few door dings. Oh and the wing being alittle warped. Ide really like to strip it down, make it all nice and straight, get a fiberglass wing, and start over with some ncie paint. But I want black again...so that = $$$$$ to do it right.

Thanks again for the compliments!

how much does all that stuff cost?

Will it work just as good for white paint? And do I do it on the strips too?

Is there a way to brighten the striipes?

Not sure on cost... Not much tho. Probably around $40 by the time you buy everything and some towels and applicator pads. Ide say between $40 and $50... And of course most of it lasts. You dont need a lot of the step 1 paint cleaner to get the job done. It doesnt do anything abrasive...almost like using a liquid clay bar. The clay bar itself works for a long time as long as you keep it lubricated and clean.

That tech wax is kinda pricey. But I like it... the best that Ive used so far. I know there is probably better out there...but I havent been trying anything new since this works so good for me.

I imagine white would come out just as good. You might not notice such a drastic clean up on a white car. But it will make the paint like glass...assuming that its in decent shape to begin with.

Yea my paint is pretty nice... It was repainted due to a small wreck...

Do you know if there is a way to brighten vinyl stripes? And wheels?

absolutely awsome. the perfect detail would be 4th gen square exhaust tips. they compliment the square angles of the car.

HOLY COW!!! They are twins!!! Darn man. Yours looks even nicer than mine. Pictures hide a bunch of the issues with my car unfortunetly. Then again...Im about the pickiest person on earth. haha.

Im near Coatesville... basically your neighbor. We ought to meet up sometime! I dont really know too many guys around with decent looking thirdgens. There are a couple running around that seem sorta beat.

Looking great man!!!
