Please help! Have you seen this car?
I'm in search of a 1991 RS, white over black. Here is a shot of it and a description:
Why am I looking for this car?
My dad purchased it in 1995 to autocross. I was in 5th grade at the time, and every day he worked on it I would watch and help where I could. I also photographed his autocross events and tagged along. Between 1995 and 2005, the car followed us from MN to CT, TN, MA, and NC. It was basically another family member. I always dreamed about driving it. The 3rd Gen Camaro and the C4 Corvette ZR-1 were my first "dream cars."
In September of 2005, I bought a C6 Corvette. This gave my dad the vette-fever, and soon he traded in the Camaro for a 2002 C5 Z06. I didn't have the money at the time to buy the Camaro from him. I finally do, but the car is gone.
It was traded in at Morrison Motor Co in NC around March of 06. They then sold it to someone else in April of 06, who then sold it at an auction at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Details:
91 Camaro RS
White over Black
5 speed
20xxx miles at trade-in, probably 25k by now
Mods:
ARE wheels, suspension, headers, Hurst shifter, subframe connectors, bushings, chip, exhaust, sway bars, and a few others
If you know anything about this car or where it is, please let me know! My other course of action, if I can't find it, is to get one similar to it.
Thanks for your help!

My dad's trying to come up with a VIN for me. The trouble is, it wasn't registered between 1995 and 2006 because it was used strictly for autocross!

They were 16x8.5 ARE rims, nothing too fancy but light and could wear some sticky 255 rubber at all four corners. Car handled like it was on rails, really miss it. It's the car my dad and I worked on...

Re: Please help! Have you seen this car?
The thought I had is that if you can come up with a VIN, but the DMV isn't cooperative, you can always get a carfax for that car - that should give you a decent shot at finding where it is...
Best of luck man, I know how that is...

Re: Please help! Have you seen this car?
Definitely try running the vin through Carfax. It should narrow your search down alot. Then again, be prepared for what it may look like if you do find it.
Sometimes memories are better than what you see once you've finally found an old car. Don't ask how I know!

Re: Please help! Have you seen this car?
Tell the DMV you found the car out in a field, and want to get an abandoned title for it.
Give them the VIN, and they should be able to link you to who it's registered to, so that you can try to contact them to purchase the car.

Re: Please help! Have you seen this car?
They sold it to a guy who sold it to a guy who eventually sold it at a Lowe's Motor Speedway auction... rumored to be a collector who bought it but nothing confirmed.
Oh well... guess I'll have to find an identical or build one...

Re: Please help! Have you seen this car?
Blast from the past... I've picked up a near look-alike with fewer miles but with the B4C package, meaning more performance.
But if this car is out there and anybody has seen it... I'd like to know!

Keep searching, i know the feeling, my first truck... a 1990 mazda b2200 extended cab... was the best thing ive ever owned and for some reason i sold it instead of fixing it, ive tried tracking it down but it keeps getting sold to different kids in the area and im kinda scared it got scrapped.

Re: Please help! Have you seen this car?
Not the car, but if your dad is interested in doing another build, here's a lower mileage, white '89 RS local to me (I realize it's an auto though) that's been for sale for at least a few months:

That was a sweet car for sure and it would be cool to get it back.

Re: Please help! Have you seen this car?
Haha, don't think I have the ability to get it back... I filled my empty garage bay with a near copy, save for the B4C package that gives my 91 RS the Z28 drivetrain...
My current ride:
At the very least, I'd like to share some information with the car (history, old pics) with the current owner. We'll see what happens...
