If money is no object then I recommend Zaino. It isn't a paste wax but it shines up real nice and can last up to a year.

Seriously though, the wax isn't the thing. It's the prep. You want to properly wash, clay bar and polish the car. Do all of that prep right and it almost doesn't even matter what wax you use. The clay will remove surface contaminants and make the paint feel as smooth as new glass, and the polish will remove small swirls marks and minor scratches, and really bring up the shine. The wax is ultimately just a protective coating made to wear away and take the abuse that the paint would otherwise have to endure.
Check out Autopia Car Detailing Forum or Meguiar's Online for more information than you thought could possibly exist on the subject. But asking "what's the best wax" is like asking "what's the best beer". There are as many answers as there are people being asked the question.

I use Meguiars' three-step method (I used to use Zaino, but...), and it's very nice. Recommended.

Perhaps I am just way too blue collar, but regular Turtle Wax is my favorite. I used to use higher-end pure carnauba waxes, but they didn't last very long. Turtle Wax keeps on working.

I used a Zymol 3 step process one time that worked great but it was $50 and there was only enough to do it once. Other than that i use Mothers without cleaners most of the time and with cleaners once and a while works great.

meguirs gold class is the best bang for the buck. i use it on my bike all the time. 1 coat looks awesome. 2 or 3 coats and my bike looks like its encased in glass!

I agree with ScottyRS on this one. I have a friend that lives by that stuff. Zaino is a pretty damn good product. There is a barber here in Windsor, and he sells zaino in his barber shop. Now THAT is dedication!
