yellow/black paint scheme
I've been fooling around in photoshop with some pictures of sickness91z28's beautiful car because he has the hood/spoiler/gfx(91-92 z28 + SS hood) im doing, and trying to figure out some good yellow paint schemes . . . the paintwise im thinking on the lines of 2005 ferrari yellow and and maybe a corvette yellow, but the whole thing in yellow is a little overbearing, so im fiddling around with accents. i would just do a nice set of stripes from front to back, but i dont like the way that would look with the ss hood, so im thinking put some black in front of the opening and on top, maybe with a thin outline in black too(like you might see for a stripe).
I also am considering black gfx, (and the center of the grill insert black), which leaves the back off-balance and it doesnt look right without a black spoiler(or something back there at least). The end result is pretty busy though, im not sure if it would be over the top. As far as a black goes I would do it a little on the grey side(a heavy yellow + full black = major contrast), maybe a little on the black side of a gunmetal/black mixture.
opinons? here's the only version i have right now, wasnt saving the inbetweens:

Whoa whoever did that paint job you better ask for your money back .
I'm not a fan of yellow on camaros, but I dig that yellow and black scheme a lot.
The roof looks like it needs something. How about a black trapezoid that goes with the black pattern on the hood?

I don't think the black GFX would look that good. But you're on the right track with everything else. Look at some pictures of 4th gens with the SS hoods for inspiration.

Black out the headlight pockets and put on some black heritage stripes and that car would look absolutly sick!

im really on the fence about the black gfx, sometimes i think it looks pretty bad with it, sometimes i the bottom looks naked without it. when i get a better idea ill see.

I like the way the stripe looks good on the hood in the first pic. I think it would be sweet if the stripe would extend as a rectangle all the way back and then go down the bumper. Or just keep the stripe to the hood only. Not liking the all-black spoiler. I think the car would work without the ground effects painted black especially if you're going with black rims.
If you're looking for some black on the sides, put some small black grandsport side-stripes on but put them on the ground effects like some members here have done.

do the hood/roof as you've outlined, leave the ground fx yellow, but do a black hockey stick stripe from your front marker light back... that would look good IMO.

dont do the gfx black i dont think you will like it. plus with black wheels there would be no contrast with the wheels and gfx right there together. i kinda like the idea of the stripe going from the hood all the way back but pls dont take the stripe past the spoiler. i think a black hockey stripe might look good but idk i think it would clash with the roof stripe. b/c the hockey strip is alot more rounded. what i would do is some neat pinstiping along the bottome of the whole car in black. like where iroc stripes are. but just do black. a good pinstripe guy could tell you what would look best. but i really like that yellow car with no spoiler that was posted earlier.

ok pretty much decided on no black gfx, i like the idea of a pinstripe or something down there better.
the stripe on the roof could either stay the same width as it is when it leaves the hood all the way back and onto the spoiler(which would otherwise be yellow), or i might try fanning it out to meet a whole black spoiler, but the more i think about it, the higher chance i think that has of looking bad. the stripe wont go past the spoiler/decklid. I would consider going down the back bumper if it were two stripes(like heritage width), but with just a single im pretty sure that would look absolutely horrible.
a hockey stripe would curve over the fender and then straighten out, right? like a hockey stick. Im not opposed to the idea, but i think it would clash with the hood/roof.
im thinking a pinstripe kinda like maroon's would probably look best.
thanks for the opinions/contributions! maybe when i have a little time ill whip up a completed concept drawing or photoshop. too bad im horrible at drawing, bleh.

i tried to photoshop with the first pic, just did the stripe on the hood. Yellow with red looks really good on cars with 2 stripes. Anything other than 2, i'm not for sure. I tried looking up cars with this paint scheme before but came up with nothing.

the problem with red on yellow is that it can quickly escalate into a hot-dog stand look, which makes me want to vomit. i could never drive a car that if i looked at it wrong would make me queasy.
my car is a hardtop.
the plain yellow car is nice, im just looking for something a tad bit more in-your-face(note: just a bit), and i dont think an ss hood would look good in all yellow. that car pulls it off great, but its a tamer look( flat hood, lighter yellow, cant tell if it has a spoiler or not).
i started with the black under the scoop cause that was the only picture i had of someone who painted their hood not one color, but it might look good with just the black on top and the black insert, ill have to see. Right now im trying to find a good pic that will show the top/back and still some of the front.
