Gold and Polished Original 16" IROC Wheels

I just polished the outside half of my 89 16" IROC wheels. This picture is from before i was completely done with this wheel. I'll post a pic of the car after i finish them all. The time and amount of work i think will be well worth it.

The pic, which you added after I posted.

Wheel looks good. My 91 Z28 rims look like bum after 15 years. One day I'll refinish them, after I replace the one with a crack in it.

How long did the one wheel take?

Well that one took about 8 hours cause i tried forever doing it by hand. I didnt think that it would take longer to get that clearcoat off then it would to sand off the cast finish on my intake lol. But finally after i found that 100 grit on an orbital sander woirked great on it. It only took about 2 hours.

89, great job, man. The wheel looks really good. I've been trying to find the time to do the same to mine, I've got 87 Irocs. I don't think I'm going to paint mine though, I'll just keep 'em natural.

I love the way they look now. I thought about getting rid of the gold, but there was no way i could do that with my bright red car with its black and gold iroc stripes. The wheels arent as shiny when upright but if you look dead on they are pretty damn shiny. I like them.

Those look really good...lot of hard work...worth it though.

I love IROC rims, ive thought about replacing mine. But always change my mind. They are part of what makes a IROC what it is.

IM going to widen the rear to about 9.5. Might have to run spacers to do it though. Maybe not.. will see, that should make the most of a 255/50/16 drag radial. And give it a fatter look out back. C4s ran a 16x9.5 rim as an option with the 255 tire. so they should fit good. The 8" fronts are all i need.

looks good man i wanted to do that to my stock iroc wheels but i was too lazy i ended up getting the 17" chrome ones though.

i always liked the gold insert iroc wheels though but i only like them on black or maroon i saw some on yellow the other day... didnt look very good.
