$2300 for my 89 GTA 4 months back, with 105k miles. Stock with a semi-recent OK paint job, lots of newer parts, alt, batt, ex and cats, etc. Only thing shabby is the seat leather. I got some amazing deals on replacement seats, front and back, be putting them in when the weather wamrs up. About $200 of mech work to get through emissions, other than that, rock solid.

I guess I will join in here too.
Back when I bought my GTA in April of 1998, I paid $9000 (canadian) she was completely original, only 10 years old, had only 93,000 km (canadian) on her and looked like this....
Today...thousands of dollars later, and a recent appraisal of $34,500 (canadian) she looks like this. And she only has 126,000km on her 9 years later.

You gotta love getting your first car before you're old enough to drive it! Gives you time to sit behind the wheel and get acquainted with her, work on her, etc. Good luck....be safe.

I paid $2500 back on December 29th for my 1991 Trans Am with roughly 92K on it. It might look familiar as I bought it off BigWhiteGTP. So far I've gotten it emissions legal, fixed the steering column/turn signals/horn and just today replaced the hood support struts with some Strong Arm #4422s that I got off ebay for $34.70 total.

I paid $1200, it had all the ground f/x on it and different wheels. I didn't take any pictures when i bought it, i know i should have but these are very recent. Since ive bought it ive did most of the body work, i yanked out the tired out 305, which is still tickin in my friend Necro's Maro, built my 350 and swapped out the old T5 for the Turbo 350.

Oh, I don't think I've put my cars in this thread yet..... lets see...
My first Firebird (the first car that was actually MINE, not one my dad gave me to use) was an 89 Formula, origionally had a 305tbi but some hillbilly idiot put a carb'd 350 out of an old pickup in, and let me tell you, this thing was HACKED. I was 16 and dumb at the time, I had very little actual experience with these sorts of cars and I had no idea what to look for really, so I bought it expecting to just clean it up a little and it would look and run fine. Long story short after everything started going horribly wrong, I bought a rebuilt 355 (done the RIGHT way, not hacked together like what was in the car) and a rebuilt 700R4 and did the swap in my garage basicly by myself with the help of a few friends. The engine that was in the car was SO bad, there was RTV literally plugging the coolant passages in the engine block/ cylinder heads (Yeah, they used orange RTV on the head gaskets) and the whole thing was just one giant mess. The wiring harness was hacked to ****, and unfortunatly after putting nearly 8 grand in to the car (PLUS the 2500 i paid for the car, yeah, i got screwd), i got frustrated and ended up parting the car out (got very little $ back). Heres some pictures of the car when I went to look at it for the first time (the guy i bought it from had bought it with the intentions of building the car himself, but ended up deciding to sell it.... now i see why)
this is what we found when we pulled and took apart the engine that was in the car
with the new engine in, this is what she looked like
Anyway, after that I bought a 96 Cobra, drove it for a while, got tired of it, sold it and bought an 81 Chevy Malibu with a 229 V6. I've still got that car, i love it, and eventually I wanna turn it in to a nasty street/strip car. In the mean time however, its gonna be stuck with the V6 and I'll just drive it on weekends and to car shows, 'cause I missed my firebird so much I bought an 87 Formula 350 a few weeks ago for 1600 from a friend.
Right now I've got Hedman long tubes going in, painted the TPI, and just cleaning it up and doing all the tune up stuff. I've got plans for the car but I gotta get a better job and save up some money first. It'll be fun though even as it is.
Heres the Malibu (paid 2 grand for it, from a friend)
And my new firebird, pic was taken when the car was still in my friends garage, but its the only decent pic of the whole car I have

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
Bringing back a good old thread!
The car was basically for $400. Well free technically. My father works in the carpet line of work and did a small job and his payment was the Camaro. When he got it the Cam bearly ran and was a wiring mess. He fixed the small things and got it working. He was the owner of it for year before me falling in love with it and him seeing that and giving it to me as a present. He now owns a 89 Caprice Classic with 61,XXX miles which he got for $850 from a long time friend. Good deals are out there, You just have to have patience and put in the time. Here are some pictures of how it was when I drove it for a summer and putting it in the garage for body work and how it looks now.
I plan to add another to the family, I really want an Iroc-z. There is one a friend of my dads is wanting to sell. Its in good condition with the usual rust and he wants $950. Its a Tpi V8 as far as I can tell. We will see when time goes on.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
Paid $475 bucks:
First picture is it's first day home, still on the trailer. You can see my white formula parked on the side of the road.
Second is the engine bay, missing the crucial part which caused it to cost so little . It's hard to see, but there are critter prints on the windshield. She was sittin in a barn for at least a year or two.
Third is the car right after it's maiden voyage. Again you can see the white formula in the background, now missing an engine.

Slightly wrecked Camaro from friend: $300
99% of the parts needed to fix it: $Free
Good Used Radiator & Welder to fix it up: $200
Towing the Camaro 15 miles to my house: $Free
Hauling 2 full truck beds + another trailer load of parts to my house: $Free
Look on the wife's face as the caravan of trucks and trailers drives up the street on delivery day: $PRICELESS
92 RS V6 T5 with 103k and came with all but the radiator and paint to fix it up. Currently has a freshly rebuilt 350 and T5 with only 3k on them, new true dual exhaust, reverse-tilt hood and 4thgen Trans Am seats in it. This winter it'll get a 4thgen disc rear with 3.73's and posi from that same Trans Am and possibly C4 brakes up front if I have time. Total $$ spent so far is around $5k including the purchase price of the car. And I'm not even halfway done yet.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
I paid $2300 and another $700 in fixing it like replacing front tires that were 255s with 245s because they rubbed and $200 of it went toward fixing the heater (which still doesnt work). I like it because it has a 350 and it came from the norwood ohio plant (its an 87) makes it special to me. Also it has t-tops that dont leak but a trunk that did leak but I was able to fix with a bunch of peel and stick cheapo weather stripping.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
Here is a picture of my Camaro next to my old Firebird. This picture is a little over 7 years old. I got the car 7 years ago though. It use to be my brothers. He actually wound up giving me the car, even though he was still making payments, so I didnt pay anything. Although I did wind up spending a couple years doing most of the labor building his 85 TA that he has now. And as far as what I spent to get it where it is now, well, lets just not think about that. I could have almost bought a brand new car.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
got it for $2800 looking like this:
$500 just to get it running (section of fuel line and new fuel injectors) then I sunk in another 3 grand and now it looks like this:
Still far from flawless but it looks nice and turns heads. And hearing "A convertible huh? You don't see those too often!" feels good too.
Check the link in my sig for its resto.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...
This is how it looked when I bought it last December for $3500
Heres how it looks about 2 weeks ago. I've put about $1000 into it so far, mostly stuff you can't see like new door rubber and new EGR valve.
I still need to get new carpet for it and the headliner redone but I really want to get a blazer for off roading so those might be put off a little bit. I'm only 17 with no job so doing work for the neighbors is the only choice.

Bought it from the original owner for $3500 + gas for 5 hr trip to Houston. Car was in great conditions and came with leather interior.
