If Foose let loose on a 3rd gen...

...what do you think he would do?

---------------------------------------------------

Definately he would do a 2 tone paint job, maybe a solid colour on the side, with another colour, like black, on the top, hood and ground effects. (I have actually sketched that out, I will post it when I scan it.) I dont know if he would do any body mods. Probably a custom charcoal grill, and muck around with the turn signals in the front in some way. Maybe a nice custom hood scoop, shaker even.

Anyway... he is one of my idols, and probably a decent piece of the reason I am majoring in design. Maybe he has done a thrid gen? On my budget, I dont get TLC, so I dont see Overhaulin' much. But I browse the website and I havent seen one.

Maybe thinking of what a great hot rodder would do with our car will get us to think of some original ideas...

That's a dream of mine... if he did a 91 or 92 GTA?

Talk about envy.

I would love to have Foose do our '92 RS - if only because I'd get to meet AJ face to face and....well, I digress.

You know he'd throw one of those monster crate motors in the thing (buh-bye silly little underpowered 3.1L V6) and drop in some clean heavily bolstered leather seats and, ugh, a monster sound system with amps and subs that would take up all the room in the back. Sorry, I just don't understand that concept (reaches for flame suit ). Basically, whatever he did to our thirdgen would be A-OK with me

I am not to fond of the audio systems that they put in the cars on Overhaulin'. Sometimes they just totally crap out with walmart stuff, huhhmmmm..Sony...cough...Jensen....cough.

I don't like Foose's stuff.
I would prefer that I get to design my car and have people do it.
Or have enough money to do it myself (the best).
For now I am stuck with my trusty TBI 305! With headers .

Post your drawings, I bet they are better than Fooses.

Foose can draw, but there are a lot better designs than his out there. I've seen them!

Cool. I could use a new best friend, and you'd be just that.

Yes, I'm kidding. Jeez.

Wouldn't mind the picture though.

I'd let him do my car in a heartbeat....only thing I'd do first though is take my boyds off and hide em....and put them back on later - the rest he could change

Hey, we're both local, let's go stake it out in HB and maybe he'll notice one us and take one of our cars in.

I like Foose. He's really creative and very precise. I see him cutting down panels on cars and at how steady his hand is. I was too chicken to put heritage stripes on my car, and he cuts away at body kits like no other.

I pretty much like everything he has done up on over-haulin. The best was when he did that Civic and the kid didn't even know who Chip Foose was.... and he was standing right there in front of him!

I would let Foose overhaul my car any day of the week!

I like Foose. He's extremely talented and I like how he's willing to get his hands dirty. The time he free handed cutting an already painted hood and made a perfect circle impressed the hell out of me. He's also one of the truley nice guys in the hot rod business. Not like a certain Boyd who is as much of an arrogant a-hole in person as he is on the show.

The only thing Foose would do to a thridgen that I wouldn't like is probably the wheels. I hate the ridiculous oversize look. I can't wait till that fad goes away.

When I was waiting to get my car painted- I actually tried to contact Foose a few times to see if nothing else, if he could do a concept drawing for the painter to go by. But ....he never called back, emailed back...nothing....

I'm happy as hell with my outcome finalized by my final painter Dewayne Stiles. There are a few little things I would change but that's because I'm so picky. I don't think Foose could have done any better although with him, my rims would be done LOL....

I still wish I could have at least gotten the drawing by him though!

But as for audio systems- you guys are right- he doesn't put in anything really worth a ****!

I dont think it could have come out any better wheter Foose did that for you or not. I am not big on the phole fmale thing, and I dont think Foose would have done flames either (just because the whole car is about lines and angles.) But that looks primo! Profiles amazing with the flamed cowl.

Anyway, Im a huge fan of Trucks, Horsepower and Overhaulin. Boyd makes me what to put my head through the TV. Stacy from overhauling would probably throw 50 grand woth of arftermarket at the car, and then do a basic paint job. Which is cool, but I think Foose would do something more original. I think the guys from Horspower would do something original powertrain that could be pretty cool. (Roots blown LS1, w/ a T56? Something like that.) I would be cool to get the Horsepower TV guys do the powertrain and suspension, and Foose do the body and interior

I really dont like Foose's 2 tone paint designs. They seem like he is trying too hard and they come out too flashy. Sometimes there is nothing sexier then a nice single color paint scheme

his paint ideas are cool and all.. the interior schemes also very nice

but usually, i dont like his wheels.. thats the only thing i wouldnt like.

and personally, i want my car to have the road race look.. mostly black with red accents, lowered with good road race wheels like CCW's style

Yep, Foose is the man. I like most of his work. But there are a few things he does on Overhaulin' that I'm not too crazy about. Just remember though that he only has a week to completely rebuild those cars.

A Foose thirdgen would probably be one color with stripes, and some sort of ghost effect within the stripes. Of course a small cowl hood and a custom spoiler too. Oh yeah, ZZ383.

I wouldn't give him my car though. Not because I doubt his abilities. I'd just rather do it myself. He can pay for it though.

I agree, I really dont like his wheels either. Too big and often ugly. Yet I am a 5 star wheels kind of guy.

One thing to remember

Guys remember that in all cases Foose has an insider to know the taste of the mark. So the big wheels might be what we are seing because that's what the mark really loves. I don't have a doubt that if one of the people on overhaulin liked the old school look, he would design wheels accordingly.

Just my two cents

Those that don't like Foose stuff either:

Have deeper pockets that can afford more than he can offer..

Or....

Are just plain jealous of what he does.

I say take my car, do with it as you please (assuming I don't have to pay for it), and I'd be happy wth the end product.

Chip, ya hear me?

If someone put my car on overhaulin' I'd snap. I think foose is a tool and has no idea about building actual cars. He can paint and design, I will give him that. His wheels suck, most of what he designs suck although some of the things he does come out rather good but theres too much **** to filter out to make him worth my while. So if my car ended up on that show, first I would yell at whoever wanted/told Foose to do my car, 2nd I'd pick out everything I hated about the car, and finally tell them to put it back the way it was.

I'd consider pressing charges. Reason I said I'd rather have Stacey do it is because he would put way more into the engine and drivetrain than he would on paint and wheels and other stuff I would never spend money on before the power.

Well said steve383. I don't know about Foose being a "tool" but I agree, i'd freak out if my car was on that show.

Foose is incredibly talented, that's about all I can say. I don't like his style at all. It's more like art than automobile. Hey, that's cool, but it's not really the same as some guys bustin' his knuckles in the driveway. I'll live and die by my talent, ideas, and my desire to do it myself.

Those that don't like Foose stuff either:

Have deeper pockets that can afford more than he can offer..

Or....

Yeah, right. Youd get 50 or 60K worth of goodies done to yur car, then shrug it off as "I don't like it"..

Whine on.

Must be cool to be able to AFFORD EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT to do top your car.

Is it there yet?

Probably not.

WIll it ever be?

Probably not.

If Foose had it on OH, would it be? Probaly damn close.

I'm stubborn like that, if I don't like something especially if it has to do with my car it's either A) being bitched about and/or B) throw/broken/torched off. I'd never jump up and down for Foose, never. No matter how much money they put into it, if I didn't like it, it would be put back to it's $2000 self...the way I like it.

Aside from the wheels and the stereos I like most of Foose's designs, but they're all show cars. I'd be too afraid to bang one of those cars up at the drag strip to own one. Give me a factory body with a good paint job and way too much power and I'll be happy.

Foose stole both charlie the painter along with boyds machinest (I forget his name, but the one where he had the funny lips).

Apparently foose doesnt have the time to find his own men and steals them away from boyd.

And as far as people not wanting foose to do their car, I would LOVE to have foose do my car. But if i had the choice of foose doing my car and me being able to do my car the way i want for free, i would pick me.

Oh, heck no. I wish I had tons more money!!!! ...I'm just saying less car done by me is better than more car done by someone else.

ANYONE with money can buy a car. Is that who YOU are?

I'd rather build my own, even if it's not perfect. I always love the old rich guys at car shows who will tell ya what "they" did to there car, but in reality they've never done more than change the oil.

You know, it really doesn't matter what some dude does to a thrid gen on national TV. It's the exposure our model car gains in noteriety that makes it almost worth it with respect the increase in street cred our cars would gain.

I mean, are we the only ones who know the Third Gen totally R0xXOrz?

For you my friends... I would sacrifice my car to Chip Foose.

Chip. Call me!

Well, actually yes, I am that guy.

But, I shift my priorities to what is important (don't need to go into it here), but suffice it to say, I'd gladly go through the OH BS to have my car handed back to me from Foose.

Just curious here, of the " Chip Foose-naysayers"..please post a pic of your car, let us know how long you have had it, and when you "might get it dione"?

Then come to reality and let us know (for real) if Foose grabbed you car, would you really be pizzed?

True, foose seems to be more laid back and down to earth. And judging by the american hotrod show, boyd pushes his workers hard with crazy deadlines.

Foose does some nice work for sure but he's a little too much show and no enough go for me. I actually don't think he'd do a two-tone paint job on a thirdgen. It would be a darker color for sure, maybe some sutle flames or accents, and of course 18 or 19 inch Foose originals. The interior would be very nice, flesh toned leather perhaps, and the engine would most likely be a built 383 or 400 (nothing spectacular). I'm a bigger fan of Troy Trepanier. At the powertour I got to see his Chicayne project. Now that was a car with serious power and great looks. Anyway, I shook his hand and congratulated him on a job very well done and moved on over to look at the Year-One camaro lol. I didn't see any Foose rides there but saw plenty of his wheels.

I dunno guys, if someone did this to my car, I would be pissed! That paint scheme is atrocious! The wheels are WAY too big.

The only thing I would be happy with here, is if I was hooked up with a Moser 12 bolt, suspention and a blower on my LS1. Possibly if the interior was done tastfully and not 15 colors to match that paint scheme.

If this was my car the first thing I would do was sell the wheels and tires and get that thing over to another paint booth fast.

Remember... in matters of taste, there is no right or wrong.

True. So I really do hope he takes into account what the tastes of his "mark" are.

If whoever my insider was, I would hope to god that they would give him my concept drawing and he would stick with it. Then I would be happy!

Uh, yeah. That's why he's won the Ridler Award 3 times in 5 years. Only tools win the biggest award in the custom hot rod industry.

OK, reality: Honestly, I don't like foose style. I'd take it and put it up on Ebay. It's STILL a bad-*** ride afterall, but then I take the money and build what I wanted. Even if his style was exactly what I wanted, I still want to build my own car. I enjoy being at shows and and explaining how I did this, or why I did that. To me it's part of the hobby.

If ya take the money out of this equation, there's really nothing I like about his work. Now don't confuse that with me thinking he hasn't got talent, cuz he's one of the greats of all time as far as I'm concerned. I just don't care for the style. If I could keep my own thirdgen, and have Foose customize an old Tri-5 or maybe a big old convertible Catalina, now THAT I'd take in a heartbeat.

...but my Iroc is mine. It needs to be all mine, and done by me. And while no car is EVER "done", I currently have too many trophies to display, so I must be doing something right.

Abubaca, you make the perfect arguement for not letting anyone else do anything else with your car. For those who lack the talent and time that you obviously have (like me - talentless and overly busy) it's a different story. If I was in your shoes I'd probably shoot anybody who touched my car!
