What to Strip wheels with? Nothing works!

I have set of 17" X 9.5" '92 Ronal Firehawk Rims. They are trimmed in bright red that looks tacky because it doesn't match my car. I want to repaint the trim black. I've tried the strongest stripper I could find and nothing takes of the red effectively. The clearcoat came off reasonably easy. The red, however, is either baked on or is a powder coating that refuses to cooperate. I've spent close to 20 hours on two rims and am only half way done. I've followed all of the instructions and let the stripper do its job for up to an hour. I don't want to sandblast them and ruin the machined finish on the face of the rim. Any suggestions? Anyone have Ronal centercaps?

I used gasket remover to get rid of my clear coat, it was gone in a matter of seconds.
give that a try. If that doesnt work, just sand the red area, sounds like its a good base

As long as you're going to paint anyway, why bother removing the red? The red is obviously adhered to the aluminum very well, so it makes sense to just sand it and paint right over it. The new paint will adhere to the red much better than it will to the bare aluminum.

Tal-strip brand Aircraft paint remover. You'll find it at most autoparts stores. Be careful though, that sh*t is deadly, but it will even take off the powdercoated surfaces!

Thanks guys. The red part is powdercoat and is extremely durable. I've called multiple refinishing places and they will not touch it. Everyone says, sandblast, sandblast, sandblast. I've used BIX Tough Job Remover, which is supposed to be an aircraft stripper. After three applications and a hour and a half, it barely softens it. I am going to get the rims repowdercoated when I finish the color change. However, the baking process will bubble any paint, so I have to powdercoat in a couple of layers. I am afraid that the softened powdercoat (from the stripper) may blister. What can I mask the wheels with to protect the machined finish while being sandblasted? Any other suggestions?

Actually I'm doing it right now. I have a set of new ZR-1's and they are powder coated black. I bought a can of JASCO paint stripper from a hardware store and used it on the powder coat with no luck. However I noticed if I put one coat on and put another coat on every 10-15 minutes for about 2 hours straight the powder coat was bubbling right off. You need to put a thick coat and wait it out. Dont let it touch the rubber or it will blister.

You'll need....
1. X-large can of paint stripper
2. cheap combonation size package paint brushes *will be thrown away after use*
3.I would recommend some rubber gloves because I burned my leg when I dropped it on my pants, and where did it go? straight through my pants
Be sure not to leave it on for too long without putting a new coat, dont let it sit for too long without rinsing with water also.

REMOVE WHEEL FROM CAR
if you strip the paint from your car, its not my fault because of my disclamer above
Have fun.
