fixing my old oxidized lights

my front bumper lights are all oxidized and they look like crap, you can barely even see the orange light thru them. How would you go about by bringing them back to new without buying new ones and how do they come off from the bumper???

To remove them go up under the car, there are two bolts i think 10mm not 100% sure on that, but remove the two bolts and they push out. Then remove the bulb, and bulbs holder fromt the lamp housing.

Polishing the lights will probably work, there is a stickey at the top of this board about it. I also recommend washing the inside of them out by running hot water in there and rinising it out. If you do that make sure they are 100% dry before installing them again. I had to do this, i had mud in mine, it worked. I never did get to polish them good though. Remember if you wash them out, make sure they are dry inside, if they are not they will fog up on you.

also try doing a search also on them and see what else you find.

good luck.

plain and simple you cant bring them back to the new shine. I polished and cleaned up my old ones they look little better then urs. Still a yellowish-haze to them. Should just spend the $60-70 to buy new ones it imporove the look of the car immensly in my opinion. But anyway if you want to try this go ahead its what i did...

Take em out run hot water and some soap or some kind of cleaner...slosh it around and keep doing that then rinse...they will look a lot better at this point. For the outside 1000-1200-2000 grit wet sand and buff with buffer...thats about the best there gonna look. Good luck.

Indeed they do. I had them on my RS and will have them on the current car as well.

The car was a little dirty when I took this pic but you get the idea..

Ya i have the aftermarket pair from ebay...look and fit very nicely but they will get condensation in them sometimes...i gotta find some time to pull them out again and silicone all the sides...shoulda done that when i first got them. So i suggest doing that when you do get them

True. They do follow the same design as the OEM ones so they do allow for condensation build-up. When I order them for the Z28 I'll either seal them or cut some extra slits, whatever works best.

I would also recommend just buying new parking lights. I bought mine from "1auto" something on ebay:

I bought some polishing compound today, this week I'll probably buff them and polish them like in the post for the tail lights.

I bought mine from them as well. The website is www.1aauto.com and they are a great group to deal with as I picked my stuff.

well I'm finished my lights and I'm very pleased with the results. especially considering the fact it cost me less then 10$. Heres some pics, there not that great, dark room and on the "new" light theres too much glare.
