Tripoli produces better shine then white rouge??? WTH?

Tripoli produces better shine then white rouge??? WTH?
Followed direction.....cept i used 120grit/220grit/400/400wet
Firm Buffer on drill with Tripoli produced NICE shine.....
Followed through with soft and white rouge.....came dull!!!
wth....made me mad sorta....
But Im using the columbian stuff from home depot and it says that you use a Firm/WR and Medium/Tripoli then follow with Soft/Jewlers Rouge.....
does that sound like a better way to try it out?...

the tripoli works it to a shine, the white rouge makes it "brilliant" are you working the white rouge long enough? i dont have that problem

Yea, im working it.....I was using a 3000RPM drill.....didnt do squat....just fogged up the appearance.......
AND I had fine scratches that annoyed me.....
and TADA.....I found a solution....... DREMEL!!!!.....works at 35,000 RPM and in conjunction with the Tripoli get rid of every single sand scratch on the surface....I couldnt believe my eyes as it shined up as it did....
Did the same thing with White rouge and....it did much better and actually shined....but at that RPM level I could not tell a difference at all from the Tripoli..
Ive finished two today, gonna start painting the black tommorow on one and sand and polish the other two tommorow.....long damn process but its looking good...Ill be sure to post pics when the project is completed
Oh...anyone try Jewlers Rouge.....??? on the back of the crap I bought it does say use it for Aluminum

what are you polishing? the dremel works good but only for small pieces
i'm using buffing wheels from the eastwood company on a bench grinder

yah...dremel definently takes time....But it is on my rims....well the Trans AM style ones with the aluminum outside and painted inside...
Also....Ive started on the aluminum intake/Fuel rails on the LT1.....looks awsome without any sanding of anysort...just the dremel on full with some Tripoli and its shinning like crazy.

Here is another trick that works really well. Get a 4 1/2 inch hand grinder, like the $20 from the tool shows. Replace the grinding wheel with a 4 or 5 inch buffing wheel. You might have to remove the guard on the tool. It has the speed to do the job.
