which tires would look best?

okay, bout to order tires for my car. Just wanted some opinions.

These?
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=0

or These?
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=2

it doesnt matter that one is summer and the other is year round, I live in AL and dont have to worry about snow. I just want to know which ones would look better. If you had to choose between these for your car which would they be?

Thanks in advance.
Audrey

Car: '88 IROC-Z / '91 Z28 / '91 GTA
Engine: LT4 Hot Cam 305 / L98 355 / MR 383
Transmission: 5-spd / 700R4 / 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3:45 / 3:23 / 3:23
thats kind of a difficult comparison.. one tire is H rated, the other is W rated..

for just plain and simple look, as if the car was show car/trailer queen, I'd say the second tires look best 'for show'

I'd honestly look for a Z rated tire. I really like my Fulda Extremeo tires, but they look like 'normal' tire threads.

If your looking for performance and looks, try something like this.

Good luck.

Try the Yokahoma ES 100 or the Falken GR Beta. The look pretty nice.

I happen to have a set of Eagle F1's and I must say they are a great tire. I will buy another set as long as they keep making them.

I had the HTR+ and they gripped amazingly for a street tire, but the HTR Z's look best.

I actually like the first ones a little bit better.
Try looking at the Good Year GS-D3's, Toyo T1's or the ES100's. I also think the Dunlop FM101's look nice although they are kinda crappy but they look nice!!! lol.

Well like i said these are the tires i can afford, and i guess i dont believe everything i hear, i will find out for my self if they are crap or not. This car will not be a daily driver anyways.

all i wanted to know is which would look best on my car. 1st or second, not some other tires that cost 8 times as much, and not whether or not the first or second are crap. sheesh

i have Eagle GTII or something like that. The tread looks like an economy tire, but overall it looks good cause they have so much hair on the sidewalls. Hairy tires look soo awesome on 3rd gens

I think the second ones are rated better. I bought my tires based on overall wear, dry traction and wet traction. I have Firehawk Indy 500's.

Its hard for me to do this, but I guess #2. Only reason I say its hard is because I've always been a firm believer that you dont go cheap on tires. But whatever makes you happy.

Have you perhaps considered buying tires based on what will work best instead of look best?

the last thing you wanna do is buy tires that are really nice on dry pavement but suck in wet conditions....you might forget the first time it rains and take a turn too hard...

just a thought....

Yes i did consider that, and both of the tires have good reviews.

I bought the cheapest tires off of tirerack.com for my cavalier as well, and they have been extremely good to me.

and as ive said already in this thread(for those of you who dont like to read) is that this car is not a daily driver.

So if its raining, and i dont like how the tires are on wet roads, i have 2 other vehicles to drive.

You do realize the tires are the only thing between you and the road, and if you go with crappier tires, your car wont handle too well right? Also, cheaper tires tend to wear faster and more irregular. If it were me I'd wait till I could afford the extra couple hundred bucks and get the better quality tires...looks on a tire to me just doesn't make sense...but to each their own i guess.

I have 245/45/17ZR Sumitomo Htr Z11 now for the last four years and they are the best tires I have had. Great Traction in both the Dry & Wet with good wear. When I need replacements, I will get the same tires. Sumitomo is the parent company of Goodyear and its their design work thats on the lastest Goodyears.

Ordered the wheels with blank center caps and had special IROC-Z decals made up for less then $20 with some spares, but never needed them.

I read the reviews on those tires also. When I purchased the HTR-ZII
that tread design was only found on the very high end performance tires. I think you made a good choice.

I love my Sumitomos for everything excpet handling :-)

I have the all seasons also.

Work great for grip when launching with the 383(well not great but it is a tpi 383 it has some torque lol)

They are great in the rain.

They ride smooth and are quiet

They are absolutely horrible for lane change maneuvers and the like but oddly enought do grip in a corner.

When whipping the car around they just feel like im riding on 4 sponges..............

I went cheap cause the expensive tires are going on the ronal r15's:-)

later

All season and the HTR-ZII tires are two completely different handling tires. ones H-rated the other is a high performance Z-rated tire.

the second ones, I have them on my corsica in 225/45/17 I believe and I think that the tread pattern on them look sweet, and they do seem to have excellent traction as well. I think they are definately a good tire for the money! They are a very stiff tire and definately a bumpy ride, but Im sure anything with a sidewall that small is the same way. This is the best pic I can find that actually shows the tread and the way the tire looks....Mods you can delete if you feel the need to....

Hey EjBaL!!

Is there any chance that i could get a picture of them from a side or "face view" like looking straight at your wheel?

I would REALLY appreciate it!
