Cervini or Goodmark cowl hood...opinions?
Allright....it's time to lose the sleeper look and get a cowl hood that'll allow me to use at least a 3" dropbase air cleaner. Plus I'm getting it painted soon so....
I presently have a 2" dropbase on it now with a 1/2" carb spacer, and the stock hood barely closes. And yes, I need to run the 1/2 inch spacer in order to run a "low profile" vacuum fitting so I can run the power brakes. My factory hood is the old '83 fiberglass. I can't decide on a 2" or 3" cowl....
The reason I'm considering Goodmark is:
1. It's a steel hood - no fitment issues, and already has cutout for the air cleaner. But it's heavier....
or Cervini
1. It's fiberglass, so it should be about as light as my factory hood and I shouldn't have to change hood struts. Never really heard of fitment issues with them. Not sure if it has an airbox w/cutout or not though. Still can't be as sturdy as a steel hood.
I'm staying with the original ground effects, I'm not trying to be a 91-92 Z clone. I'll eventually add 17" Crager SS wheels too.
So - Glass or no Glass??

Defintely can't beat the fitment of a steel hood.. As far as glass goes you're on the right track.. I've never seen anyone complain about Cervini's and every picture I see here looks great and people usually just have to bolt them right on.. Stay away from Harwood, they look nice, but fit like hell.

I was going to purchase the goodmark until I saw one on a camaro. The cowl is sort of cut off straight at the windshield. The Cervini is contoured to the windshield. It looks much better I think. I will be going with the Cervini when I get the funds

I acually have a cervini sitting in garage for the last 2 years. Went back to stock (92) I will go look and see if it has the air filter cut out but I don't think it does. It had no fitments issues and was very sturdy.

Thanks for the input! Sounds like a Cervini is the way to go.
Just wish I lived closer to where they're made, so I wouldn't have to pay the insane shipping fee!
Only thing I've seen about the Cervini that I don't care for is the small ovals cut into the cowl (from the windshield side) so it can breathe....I'd rather have the area wide open for more of a "cowl" effect....
- Thanks again!
