duct tape on paint
When i went to florida for two week i threw on my old car cover which was tore in a few spots so i pulled the fabric together and threw on some good old duct tape. Problem is when i got back the cover flattened out and the duct tape stuck to the paint....How can i get that duct tape film residue off w/o messing up the paint?

if that doesn't work, you need something to break up and soften the glue from the duct tape.
you can use a bit of gasoline on a rag and softly/carefully wipe the area clean... or you can use hair spray. wash and wax area well afterwards.
good luck.

wax & grease remover.
soak a rag, and let it sit on the area, to soften, then wipe off, and rewax the area.

Thanks for all the help. I went to try to find some goo gone,but the auto zone here didn't have it, so i tried some stuff called sticker shock and it took it right off with ease. Thanks again!

glad to hear you got it off. For future reference...never use gas or nail polish remover. That can definently damage the finish...I've seen a number of cars with that type of damage...and it totally sucks. What you purchased sounds like a good idea, goo-gone will work good, or even a pre-cleaner will break down that type of residue

Acetone = nail polish remover
Nail polish and automotive finishes share much of the same technology, and acetone will go right through our original lacquer finishes, most touch up paint and even soften some harder stuff (it will actually dissolve partially cured POR15 which is next to impossible to clean up with anything else besides lacquer thinner, and even soften some powder coat and plastics).
There are assorted other mixtures for removing nail polish, mostly to make them less drying to the nail, but anything that ‘melts” nailpolish will at least do the same to original lacquer and most touch up paints
