Tint the rear window?

You guys think I should get the rear window tinted? My side windows are 15% right now...and I have no tint on the back. I rarely have the side windows up...they are always down. Here are a few pictures of it with tint...and without tint.

and without....to me....it just seems to look cleaner without the tint on the rear window...plus, it shows my stereo without having to open my hatch at shows.

only tint the rear window if you go with 5% .I think it looks better with tint. lemme bust out a before and after with the tint for ya so you can get a real world idea.

here is a before tint.

NO BRAINER in my eyes.My '86 here is tinted and my '92 is next. Already priced it out. $75.00 is nothing. Your car would look awesome with tint. With only side and no rear it would seem strange, especially since you can get a ticket for the side and not the back. 5% in the back by the way.

Keep in mind that you wont see nothing out the window at night. (makes the backing up process somewhat harder.)
Other than that prety cool & it will keep the interior a lot more cooler.
You can allways go with 15% or 25% & get a happy medium.

I'm not sure what the tint percentage on my rear window is, but as long as I keep the glass clean and it's not fogged up on the inside or outside, I can see OK backing up at night. However, I prefer using the mirrors since visibility is reduced.

I have 5% and never had a problem at night. Use the mirrors and as far as driving everyone behind you has thier lights on so you know where they are. 7 years and yet to back up into anything.

On a black car 5% is the only way to go. 15% is too lite IMHO.

ONCE YOU GO BLACK YOU NEVER GO BACK.

o man , i honestly dont remember i think it was around 150-200 , im not really sure, shipping was the expensive part . The kid was gonna throw it out so hes like cheap for a price and then shipping . But my bro got a defrosterless hatch from an 88 maro with the 88 only spoiler for 75 and their like 1 mile from the house . So i got hosed on that one. The only place i didnt check and it was the best place . So check everyplace you can first .

If you park in lots and drive around at all you should tint it or it will get ripped off.

While we're at it does anyone have pics of a white car with the rear hatch tinted (and preferably the side windows too)?

I've done a few chop jobs of my car but I still just wanna see what it'd look like.

So what do you do if you DO have the rear defroster lines? Can those still be tinted, or am I S-O-L?

Do they just put it over the lines, or cut out around them? Thanks for the reply!

Also - how well can you see out it at night w/15%?

The place it over the crosslines. Good tint jobs will be cut around the side lines, the veritcal lines.

I have 5% on my windows vern, you have seen it. (Daniel from NTTGA)

Yep, just never looked that close at the defroster lines. I'll probably go with a 15-20% tint on my rear window. Use Old Pharts need to be able to see when backing up at night....

I'm still undecided. I never park my car anywhere unless it's at a show. Plus, my side windows are always down. At shows, I want people to see my stereo set-up without having to open the hatch. I might have to see if someone could photoshop a few pictures for me....that would probably help me out.

Here is a picture of the stereo. I agree, if I drove it alot, and parked it alot....the rear window would be painted black because I wouldn't want anyone to break in to steal my stuff. But...since I don't..and it's for show purposes only...I would like to leave the hatch down so people can take a peek at the stereo.

tint looks awesome on the hatches in my opinion, 5-15% on the hatch and 20-35% on the windows...

custom you should leave it as is.... or go light on the hatch, say 35% or so...

perriz28, sweet car...how's that edelbrock FI holding up? I've been eyeballing an FI system, but for vortec heads...

i have 35% in the fronts and 13% in the rears. Never got a ticket on my tint but got pulled over onces by the bart police because of my tint. I've had my tint for over 2 1/2 years and only been hassled that one time. Installation of the side windows and the rear window was $150 at a local stereo shop.
