anything i can do for flaking chrome?
i just got a set of chrome ss wheels, and 3 of them are cool, but there is about in inch on the very outside front of one where the chrome is flaked off. im guessing any kind of chrome repair kit i could get would look retarded, but can i put clear coat or something over that so that more wont flake off? its fine now but if it spreads it will really look bad. or did i miss something and chrome can be repaired?

As far as i know chrome is not repairable it will have to be re dipped. Clear coat wont help it from chipping it would be like painting over paint chips.

I'm sorry to say this, but chrome SUCKS!
It may look GREAT, when new, but as soon as it starts going bad,
you either replace the wheel, or get it rechromed.
I am faced with this same problem on my wifes Bonneville.
I think I'll end up replacing them with a standard aluminium wheel
and be done with the chrome wheels.
The bigger problem, is that our wheels chrome is coming lose so bad around the bead and the valve stem, that we are having to air up the tires every two weeks.
I'm my opinion, this is why polished aluminium RULES! You can get close to the appearance of chrome, without the peeling/flaking problem sometimes encountered with chrome.
Good Luck with your problem,
Leon.
