Q: for polishing GTA rims
My rims are perfect exept for the clear coating. It makes the metal look dull but I dont want to mess with the gold because it still looks like new. What would be the best way to polish the lips witout damage to the paint?
I was thinking about covering the gold part with tape, then applie paint remover with a bursh. will doing this damage the paint or is there a better way of doing this?

Car: 1989 GTA
Engine: 383 Miniram AFR195
Transmission: Tremec TKO
Axle/Gears: BW 9 Bolt/3.70
The method that you are describing is how I did mine e.g. masked off the gold crosslace portion while I stripped and polished the rim. It worked ok but the stripper is messy so be careful. Not sure if there is a 'better' way.
