to my knowledge youll need a 11" rim for 315. maybe a 10" could work but i dont think so. def not on the 9.5. Max is a 295 i believe

So does anyone know if maybe the 18"X10.5" Z06 rim would fight a 315? I'm looking for a 305/35/17 but i'm not having any luck

You can fit a Nitto DR 315/35r17 on a 9" or 9.5" wheel. It is not optimum, and bulges just a little, but is perfectly safe for street and most competition use. I currently have these tires on my 17x9 wheels, and have been using them for some time with NO problems, as have MANY others.
Now I'm sure someone will chime in here... Kandied91Z perhaps, saying that it is unsafe, the manufacturer claims this and that, etc etc. But they have no real world experience with this combo. Those that do have first hand experience had no documented problems. So those nay-sayers can go elsewhere!
Nittos run small for some reason. Comparing them to a coworkers 94 Vette, with 255 and 285 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's, the Nitto 275/40r17 runs smaller than the Goodyear 255, and the Goodyear 285 is actually wider than the Nitto 315.
HOWEVER, I would not run any other 315/35r17 tire on a wheel that narrow. Any other brand or type, 285/40r17 would be maximum.
Traction wise, there IS a SOTP difference between the Nitto 275 and 315 DRs. It hooks better, spins less, and can out accelerate that same 94 Vette out of the hole by an extra car length with tires being the only difference.

I have seen 315's on 9.5's several times and have known a few guys that have done it. They dropped the pressure to about 30psi and they wore very evenly. It actually looked pretty good and was not nearly as bulged as I thought. There is a 69 chevelle with this combo on it in this months superchevy.

wow 315 on a 9.5 rim? I guess it can be done, but has anyone had a setup like that for a long time as a daily driver? I might try that as well but would want some assurance
why not just get 11" rims if your getting new wheels.
I dont think theres any way to get a 315 to fit without pounding and doing some work on the inner wall.

I put bfg gforce t/a's on them for street use, in the usual size of 275/40/zr17. I am looking for a spare pair of ws6 wheels to toss the d/r's back on again for track use.

well i'm really in love with the z06's i have the reguler factory ones but i really want those Z06 motorsport rims with the rivets. Iwas looking at the light grey color or the chrome....but they don't sell those anything wider than 9.5" if it's a 17...and I don't wanna goto 18" rims just too much hassle as far as buying new spacing..but thank u gys I'm actually gonna buy a set of nitto DR's..

Discount Tire Direct sells them cheaper than anywhere else, and ground shipping is FREE! I've bought several tires through them, and have always had great service.

The combo I have now does not require any quarter panel lip modification or wheel well modification. However, I used to run 305/50r15 on a 15x10, so the lip has already been rolled at the top and the wheel well massaged.
That tire's section width is 1.75" wider than a Nitto 275/40r17 on the same wheel, and just over 1" wider than a 275/40r17 Kumho Ecsta Supra 712. I measured when installing them. It looks funny in the pic for some reason - maybe the angle - but the rears are noticably wider than the front (275 Kumhos), and there's a substantial difference with the wheel/tire side by side.
Many more pics are on the way of the car.
BTW - Notice how little this tire bulges, even at 26 psi, where I run it for daily driver duty.
