whats racing have to do with how I think a car looks??? everybody has there own opinions on how things should look on there own cars.....everybody is entitled to there own opinion so step off my back...who cares if he has a 383 stroker under the hood, if I could have one, I would too....but i'm 18 and that guy is prolly at least in his 20's or 30's....whats the big deal if I say IMO anyways????

doesnt look too hot. Maybe if it were a newer C5 looking oval taillight. Still though, i like the 91-92 T/A lights on firebirds where it says "pontiac" in glowing letters

(And btw I just think everyone can have their own opinion, and as long as everyone respects everyone else, we're good.)

Some people paint the lights all red, I think thats the best taillight mod I've seen. Not a fan of the Corvette conversion kit at all, looks cheesy but thats my opinion.

I've blacked my tail lights out (paint) all the way up to the reverse lights. Looks pretty interesting IMO. I like it, but will do it again on a better set of lights as those I have already have stress fractures, and that sucks. I'll find the digicam and take some pics later.

I love the grid style taillights. Blackouts look real good too. Post up some pics when you get a chance to show us what you did. Here is a pic of my red taillights

Thanks for the compliments guys. I used Testors Candy Apple Red transparent paint to paint the amber parts. I took the lenses apart so I could still polish the outsides. I have more pics of my car in this thread and there are some on my cardomain site.

That Corvette conversion looks okay, but not very original. I like blackouts , but its overdone. The painted tailights just look cheap to me. I think the tail lights are one of the worst features on our cars. They are one of the things on the car that really show the age of the car. If only some company would make euros for our cars.

i dont think the lights are too bad if you do some work. Grabiod yours looked real nice. I like the use of just red and white...giving it that clear look. I agree that they show the age of our cars but thats what makes a custom job make the car that much better. I want to know if anyone has done a custom C6 or C5 version of their taillights instead of the squarish C4 version. if you put some blackouts/tinted black lens on those corvette style lights it could look pretty good....maybe at least on a firebird.
Ima start on some photoshop.

The vette lights...
Amen to that.
I think EVERYONE pretty much knows how old they are. ...and do you not like 1stgens because they're too old?
looks cheesy but thats my opinion.

Everyone knows how old they are. 1st gens are different, they are old enough to be considered classics. Our cars aren't quite to that point yet.

Yeah, I know. I just never understand that reasoning. Don't get me wrong, it's all good.
I think it's the older styling that most of us really like. Sure some of us can't afford newer, and some just use it as a cheap platform for a race car, but most of us really like the styling. They look 20 years old because they ARE 20 years old.

One day the legacy of the ******heads in Camaro's, and Italians in IROC's will long be forgotten, and it can then become a classic. Right now, just because it is associated with the 80's, it will always be looked back upon as a relic of the 80's. I don't believe that any other decade will be looked back upon with so much disdain as the 80's

When you reply to a post under the options thing you will see "Attach File" Then just hit browse and select your pic. It has to be a certain file size though.

for people painting the tail light turn signals red, i think it would look much better if u painted over the red part with red as well. i think it would match better.

Has anyone ever thought about making their own clear taillights or would this look too much like an import thing? I'm still contemplating it since my car is white and every other lens is clear.

sorry its taking me so long to get pics, anyways, i ended up shaving my antenna, all emblems as well as filling the holes in, and i also shaved my side markers, i wanted to give you a ruff idea on the look im going for on the car so i waited on the pics until i complete these things. my paint just arrived which is charcoal grey met. im sparying a grey kandy over it, and then in satin black i will have the old school hockey stick on the side, wheels are supposed to be in this weekend which are 17x11 torq thrust in the back and 16x8s up front, i was tempted to go 17s all aroudn but im going for a retro look on the car and i think this will accomplish the look im going for, for the hood, its not in the picture but it is a 4 inch cowl, i know theres not to many fans of 4 inch cowls out there but if its done right it looks very nice, and finally the engine is just a 96 lt1 which is yet to be installed, and the interior is tore apart at the moment being done in all red, yeah it will be bright but i think it will look nice pics should be up in a few hrs
