My new 17x9.5 GTA's have arrived!
Well, they're not truely GTA's, but the likeness is uncanny. Same number of points, same layout of holes (big, med, small, divit). Aside from the corvette offset and lack of outer divits, they're pretty damn close. A lot closer than some of the old BBS designs.
They're true 3-piece so I'll be removing the center section and getting them powdercoated gold (or painting if I can't get a close match) and I'll also repolish the outer rings. I've got a 4th gen rear sitting around the garage and I'm looking for a pair of 2" adapters now.
Side note, are the WS6 center cap emblems still available from GM or another place? If I cut down the GM ones 1/8" all around they'll fit inside the new center caps. (Going for the stock look).
And yes, I'm accepting offers of the old GTA's. A good bit of curb rash on two of them. Almost new touring tires. They'll go cheaper than most..
Pics.

Yeah, the red was an issue.. They will be powdercoated to a close to stock gold.. But considering they were $400 shipped, I wasn't too concerned..

$400 shipped?!?!?!?!? I had to pay $200 for a single refinished rim.
I had to have one replaced because my sister smacked a curb with it. That was the FIRST and last time I let her drive the car. EVER. Hell, I only let her take it around the block when she smacked a curb!

BTW, center caps are available on Ebay Motors all of the time. I got my new chrome red bird emblem ones for $26 plus shipping last summer.

they are cool , the only thing i dont like is that you have to run spacers. They could be a good option instead of running the ccw rims that are real pricey. Paint that center piece black and it will be sweet .

You lucky dog. Now we just have to convince someone to begin producing these again. Why can't someone like SLP wise up and make something like this with the size everyone wants instead of some little 8 inch rims.

However, they didn't recieve enough interest in the project and have since shelved the idea. When I called them they said they would do it, but they simply hadn't had enough emails, telephone calls/faxes etc. They therefore concluded that their wasn't enough interest.
Heres a link to the post regarding the saga:-

I suggest if you would be interested in buying such a product that you give them a call and ask them to make it!

Are these going to need any kind of spacers? Do you know what cars they were marketed for? There are a lot of rims out there that will fit, but aren't marketed as compatible with our cars.

Sold as 'for an 88 Corvette', so I'm thinking similar backspacing to a 9.5" ZR1 rim. I'll probably get 2" spacers for the front, but I'll know more once I get my 4th-gen rear in, 2" might not be enough.

Dude, I was so trying to buy those exact set of rims, I believe those were only availible on the Greenwood edition Vettes. You luckily beat me to em by a few hours. Congrats on the purchase, and if you ever want to sell em, drop me an e-mail at Zless@netscape.net.

Wrecked the car this weekend before I got them finished.. Plus my camera and all my DVD's got stolen 2 weeks ago.. Plus my wife has exceeded here medical deductable in the past three weeks.. So pics and the finished product might be a while..
I'm still waiting for the adjuster to come out and give me the good or bad news on the car..
Other cool things, the day I wrecked I had finished up the first of my 4th gen door panels, and I have to say they came out better then 99.5% of all the others I've seen on here.. No camera to show it off...

Re: My new 17x9.5 GTA's have arrived!
Aside from the info in this thread, no. All these rims are around 20 years old, a quick Google search led me to a set that sold last year on a Corvette forum. Most you find will be 16" or smaller though.
But thanks for bumping this thread, a lot has happened in the past 7 years and I never though about updating this thread. Here's some pics of them finished and on the car:
If any one wants to check out the entire (on going) build of the car, go here:

Your running in CP class in that? How do you compare (race placing) to your competitors?
That thing is SOOOO far from the usual CP car. What bumps you to Prepared?

Re: My new 17x9.5 GTA's have arrived!
Um, they sold about 6 years ago...
I've only been a couple of times so far (hence the ugly loaner helmet), and there were no other CP cars the times I went. So best in class. It's only been tagged for less then two years and I hardly drive it, so I've got a lot to learn about the car.
Only the body is original. Aftermarks suspension, rear, engine crossmember, engine, transmission, weight jacks, etc.
I'm just doing it for fun, so I'm not really concerned where they put me.

shr00m- those wheels look great on your ride. I want to do the same rims w/ black powdercoat on my black 92Z. Will be hard finding a good set at a good price like you did. Nice work!

I never really liked them due to not having a deep enough dish and having run adapters. They don't look to bad. Since Year One seems to be making reproductions of all the 2ndgen wheels you think they would have an interest in making the 3rdgen ones?

Re: My new 17x9.5 GTA's have arrived!
Center caps are the Epsilon caps with custom vinyl graphics fit to size and then clear-coated over the entire thing.
As others have said, they won't fit standard GTA rims. Main thing is the depth needed to clear the front grease caps at standard offset. Not sure what I'll do when I get new rings made and go to standard offset.

Hey shr00m... Did you cut down your center cap, like the depth? I just got a set and my caps are deeper than yours appear to be. The set I have are correct backspace for 3rd gen in 17x9.5, so maybe its the deeper lip? needing the different caps.

On the standard offset, the front dust cap and outer bearing protrude through the hole of the rim. Nice that they offered deeper center caps. Mine are like them came. I'm saving your name, if I ever do get new rings made I'll need to get new center caps. I might have to borrow one of yours to get 3D scanned and make some copies!

Re: My new 17x9.5 GTA's have arrived!
Post some pics! I've been looking into getting new rings made to go to the correct offset, and possibly stretching them out to 18". I would love to see what they look like with some dish to them. Also good to know they were available like that, might have to start looking for some more.
