60% tint...Just how light is it?
Well, I got a medical exemption from the DMV to tint my front windows legally since it is illegal here in NJ. They approved a max of 60% tint! WTF?!
I know that is light as hell and worthless, IMO, but I want to see exactly how light it really is.
Does anyone know or have a pic showing just how light 60% tint would be?

Mind if I ask what med. condidtion you have. Photophobia?
Did you a have to have a note from a doctor?
With 60% at least you'll be able to see out the windows at nite.

The DMV has a form that must be signed by your doctor. I don't have the condition, my gf does. Don't remember what it is called, though.

Does anyone know if IL has the medical exemption?
btw: tint laws apparently are only applicable to older cars, as all my friends newer BMWs and Audis never get pulled over.
selective enforcement of the law is BS, when it doesnt work for you.

tint law site http://www.tintdude.com/laws.html
CA front sides are a whopping 70%
as for the original question, might a tint shop have some samples, dont really know never really looked into tinting, i know i glanced at the cheap tint in a walmart once to try to figuer out just how dark 35% was, for my states laws, and they had a little circle at the top on the product in the cardboard that was supposed to be the darkness of the tint and you can lookthrough it, not really a good representation of it on a car though

I got to see a pic of a car w/50% tint and it wasn't much at all so 60% is an even bigger joke. It's not worth the $100 or so, IMO. I'll just use the $ to get my hood painted and live with only having my rears tinted.

NJ tint laws are very strict because a cop was shot in the early 80's when he pulled someone over.
"On December 21, 1981, Lamonaco stopped Richard Charles Williams and accomplice Thomas Manning for a traffic violation on Route 80. While Lamonaco searched Manning, Williams pulled a gun and shot him 9 times -- one shot fatally piercing through his heart. Though Lamonaco returned fire, both men escaped on foot, leaving the car at the scene of the crime."
This was the reasoning I heard.

tint laws are divided into catagories front/side and rear/side so where does a camaros side window fall under?? CA law says 70% for front/side and any% for rear/side.
