Classic Industries Replica Rims, good/bad?
I've been waiting for some American Ealge #203 rims to arrive at the local shop and have been wondering about the replica GTA rims that classic industries (huntington beach, CA) offers. I've heard good and bad things about their wheels which are $540/set. Mighty enticing However, I've heard some people saying their inferior in quality and sometimes the chrome chips off etc.? Comments/info.

I've got a set of the Classic Industries GTA wheels..... and they are top-notch in my book. In contrast to what most people think they are not replica wheels; they are, in fact, the same wheel that was supplied to GM from 1988-1992.
All the markings match exactly on the back sides between the car that has the CI rims, and the other two GTAs I have that are running the OEM factory rims.
The wheels only come in one color..... black..... and have to be painted for a GTA, but that's a small price to pay to get a brand new set of rims for less than most good used sets go for. CI told me that by stocking a single color, they are able to help keep the price at a reasonable level. As you know, GM offered the wheels already painted to match the needed application..... at almost $500 each.
I've had this set of rims for almost three years now, with nary a problem either in quality or appearance. I highly recommend them to anybody that needs some GTA-style rims, gold or not.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like Classic Industries is stocking good stuff. The salesguy over the phone also told me that the wheels were the same as the originals, just manufactured more recently. Still, I'm going to try out my Ealge Alloy #203's. They have a lot more shiney-polished-metal worked into them that I think will compliment my blue car better than the black-centered stock '91 mesh wheels. If the aftermarket plans fall through, I'll be sure to get an order in Classic Industries. They dun have the wheel till Dec. though. Thanks agin'
