Cost of having engine bay painted?
Hey guys I need to get my engine bay prepped and painted, its dirty, greasy, and the little surface rust spots annoy the heck out of me. I do not have the time to do this myself, so I was thinking the car needs to have the engine and engine bay steam cleaned to get the grease off, then the engine pulled for the bay to be prepped and painted...how much do you think a body shop would charge for this??? Anyone had it done???

I've been trying to get a hold of my "paint guy" for the same thing. Although he's got a bunch of my color mixed from last time and I'm a repeat customer so my quote ought to be lower than normal (I hope anyway ). I'll let you know as soon as I get word from him. Prepping the bay is no fun though, it's getta be bare...

I don't know if you'll find a body shop that will pull the engine for you. If you do, expect to pay several thousand dollars. If you stripped it bare yourself and had it towed in, expect to pay about $400-$500 for a good quality paint job. If you just want it painted black and nothing special in the way of quality, you can probably get it done for $200.
