Can I powdercoat an aluminum water pump?

My Edelbrock waterpump always looks like crap a month or two after I clean it up, even if I clear it. Can I just powdercoat the thing while I have it off now? I'm just worried that the 400 degree baking temp could warp the aluminum or damage the bearings/seals inside.

What do you guys think?

Hmmm I'll have to check into that, but I'd rather use what I already have if possible.

You don't want to bake aluminum at 400 it is possible to warp it, or create cracks, especially if its a casting. Also the seals inside won't like the heat. I wouldn't risk it.

That's what I figured. I might just polish it up and then use actual automotive clear instead of rattle can stuff.

The only thing Id be worried about is the seals.

Most Good powders like I use (tyger drylac,,ppg, etc) bake at 325-350 anyways.

Ive done tons of Alum parts with no problems.

Water pump included.
