Flyinlow - Everytime I think about my car, I think about when your car was almost blown up by those punks...and it reminds me how much worse my problem could have been.

hmm Car set on fire? Sounds to me like there is a story I want to hear. anyone remember the original topic? or care to tell me what happened?

Here is something that actually happened last weekend. I live in an appartment building, and there are a couple of pompus *****$ that live down the hall from me. He owns a Jeep and thinks it makes him important. anyways, one night I Heard a motor bike revving out in the parking lot, Woke me up so I thought I'd take a look. What I saw Pi$$ed me off. THe guy parks beside me and on this night he and some of his drunken buddies had his motor bike parked sideways in front of his jeep, beside my car.

And the a$$ holes were spinning the tire on the bike.. spitting rocks all over the front end of my car. I ran out biatching at them. and told them I'll be looking at car come day light to find scratches or dings or dents, and that the repairs are coming out of their pockets. *THEY took off like bats out of he11!*

I was so pi$$ed I couldn't sleep after that so I stayed up and watched a lil TV. My car is parked out in the yard in a very good location I can see it from my computer room and the living room.

I saw the guys come home from the bars at about 3:30am. They were laughing really loud and falling all over. I decided to watch them to see if they try to pull anything.

2 of those Ding bats decided to pull their riggen out... and proceeded to Pi$$ all over the back window and rearend of the car.

Needless to say I called the cops.

Anyways. these guys ended up paying for a professional done car wash and shine at a local shine shop. (car was still wet when cops showed up).

There are paint chips on the hood and passenger side front quarter panel. but cops wont do anything about those.. they said that the chips could have happened any time prior to the incident.

I've tried many glass repair shops, and none of them have a NEW piece of HEATED glass, (GM doesnt make anymore). A new piece of unheated glass is easy to come by and I could have one put in tomarrow, but I used my defrosters alot and would hate to go without them.

My second option is a junkyard, cheap yes. guarunteed to have working defrosters, no.

Third option is Ebay, cheap, YES. but no one will ship the glass and a road trip just wont work.

So what I am getting at is my eyes lit up when I saw that you had glass and you're in Maryland

Well, I just bought a near flawless rear window and hatch (all one piece) from a junkyard for 250$ but insurance will cover that the thing is, it's blue.

I can get a glass shop to switch my old black hatch piece on there for 100$ (to seal it correctly and such)(also insurance covered) OR, should I just try to paint it faded-black to match the rest of the paint ?

p.s.
The glass shop has to guarantees.. They break it by accident resealing it, to bad for me.

It's a mystery to me, I was at work when it happened. Looked everywhere for a brick or rock, but nothing. I guess it could of been a high powered pellet gun, but they prolly just hit it with a bat or something. I fell good about having it fixed, but I swear when I find who's responsible, they'll regret it big time :nono:

Before i got this car, it was my brothers, he had a crutch stickin from the front seat to the back, and it was sticking up just enough so that when he shut the hatch, the glass shattered everywhere! Luckily not into his face but straight up into the air. This wasn't vandalism but just another story about the hatch window breaking, these hatch windows seem to break from the slightest bump.

I talked to my insurance company today, they are sending me a check to pay for everything... I am getting a mint hatch from my buddy. My car should be back on the road early next week

And, I will have a little extra money for my pocket... but lets be hush hush about that
