I am. if you read above I have around 8+ years of galss and composit work under my belt.

As for how many i do depends how ambitious I feel really. I'm making it for my buddy Daved iroc, and I know Jeff (kandied91z) really wants a stock show quality stoock glass hood.

k, i just emailed rex and he emailed me back in liek 15min... lmao! anyway, here's what i wrote and his response:

Hi Rex,

I’m wondering if you have an update on the fate of the reverse cowl hood? You had mentioned something about finishing up a street rod project first and that you were looking at starting the process of producing this new hood shortly after that. I’d like to post an update on TGO to let the guys who are interested know that this hasn’t died.

Thanks,

Aaron <vexter>

Hello Aron I am still going to do the hood . Do the people want it as a 4 " or a 2 1/2 " height Sincerely, Rex Orr

So, that's the question at this point... I'm guessing 2.5" to reduce the chance of interference with the tpi unit, but I'm not sure. Any input here?

2.5"

Most people don't like the 4" for a daily driver anyway.

ok, i thought rex was asking a different question. i thought he was asking how deep the reverse part should be... yeah, i would be more interested in the 2.5" version without a doubt.

I think when Rex originally decided to make this hood he said he wasnt putting the side scoops in. I figure they would be easy enough to add on after ya got the hood since they are nothing but second gen camaro fender vents. Id prefer it without the side scoops but like Vexter said Im in either way.

If I ever get one, which is a good possibility when there made, I would want one without the 2 side vents. So my vote goes to no side vents and 2.5"

If it's not more than $600 I'd probably buy one in like 6 months or so. I cant justify paying much more than $450 for a hood, but I think I could make an exception if I save my pennies.

If this hood is getting made then count me in. The only thing is, I think the side vents looks awesome. I think without them they might look like the Cobras hood. I wish we had more pictures of the hood . . . can anyone help out?

Add me in for the $575 reverse cowl hood too. I'm not sure I understand by 2.5" or 4" height, as it's a reverse. I do want the side extractor scoops in place, but they have to be lined up behind the #1/2 cylinders so the turbos can get vented & don't hit. I'll need to duct the radiator shroud to the reverse cowl. If anyone wants dimensions of where the various parts will be, I can go out and measure.

Yah I would also purchase one of the hoods for 575. I think the side scoops make it look more unique. I hope they make it some time soon cause I plan on painting the cam. but I want to make sure the hood gets painted as well

Count me into the hood, but w/o the side vents.
Maybe we should take a poll as to how many want the vents and how many w/o?

And this topic is alive again...lol. Well Rex at ASCD said that if he was to make the hood it would be without the side vents. Since someone said in an earlier post that he was wokrin on it I discontinued my plans to make it. Its been awhile and still no word from Rex on the hood. Maybe I 'll call this week and see what the status is on this. But as far as takin upon myself to make the hood...well I think the earlier posts pretty much tell the story. I'll wait for Rex or just buy the SS hood and live with it.

How hard is it to take an existing fiberglass hood, and graft the reverse scoop into it, and still have the outer surface look smooth?

Guess its late to throw in my $.02

I'd buy one (like MY word means anything), but considering the price $550-600.... you could get more initial buyers by lowering the cost. I understood it that as long as 10 people bought a hood at 600 (Cost is $6000 then). Get a list of people who want it.

If you have 20 people - $350 would be more than fair for the hood ($7000 total cost)
That'd be only $100 for each additional hood after 10, why not make that type of offer and see what's said.

Maybe if the cost was lower, since most of us don't have deep pockets, you could get a better response. I personally would love an extractor designed hood for the 3rd Gens. Doesn't matter if its a direct copy from that picture.

IMHO, the 4th Gen Extractor hood for the Firebird would be a better candidate to adapt. Think it was Mecham that put it out. (Might be wrong)

It'd be nice to have a one-of-kind hood.... but for $600 each.... I'll find something else.

Sorry for the long post on an old subject, still a Newbie here.
