OK if you say you are going to put this is car shows, get it professionally steam cleaned, and get engine dress up part, chrome stuff, lots of it, otherwise you will not win anything.

Yeah I agree with the steam cleaning. If you haven't cleaned it in a while, take it to a car wash place where they do a steam cleaning. My roomate had it done on his car for I think $30-40. They did a pretty good job too. Once you get that done it will be easier to clean and maintaing...and once clean you can use some tire shine...the kind that isn't too greasy and doesn't contain silicone oil to dress up the hoses and stuff.

that low of mileage you should not have to steam clean the bay.
use some simple green diluted in a bottle with 50/50 mixture of water and with a rag/toothbrush clean the bay. go over everything and be sure to wrap up any open electrical connections. i find tinfoil works well as it conforms very easily.
if you plan to keep the car low mileage stay away from cheap chrome and other parts. polishing is the best route but then you deminish the value of the car.....just clean it up well. if you do need to steam clean save your money and buy one of those new machines on tv. they work very well and then you'll be able to clean more then just your car.
detailing for car shows is very time consuming but once you get the car generally clean it's mainly maintenance. i spend roughly 2 full weeks a year to go over the car and then one day every two weeks to go a quick once over during the driving months. if you do it right you shouldn't have to clean much. i polish (not wax) my car once a month and wash it twice a month...have to keep up on the rims and polished pieces though once a week.

I guess you will probably get a lot of opinions on this, but I would go with the simple green, it is awesome at cleaning, especially if you use some kind of brush, and won't hurt anything. I would also recommend getting some spray on silicone, to hit everything with after it drys.
A car with 14k original? I would leave it bone stock and put the tires and rims up in bags for shows only. Keep it clean, drive it on occasion, and bring home trophies.

simple green diluted 50/50 will still hurt your paint if it's left on....simple green straight will eat your paint. silicone will also dry out your parts and cause discoloration among other things.....one of the worse things you can put on your car.
