wow! nice job on the fix. I love seeing before and after pictures. I like that you kept the stripes on the bottom of the car.

I hope to do that transformation yet again on my firebird.

Thanks!

I was waiting as long as possible to restore it, but I finally failed inspection due to rust holes through the body and door, so I had to get it done ASAP.

I used the old emblems. I bought new side trim for the door, and I had the striping decals added along the bottom of the car. They don't sell the original style striping for SCs, but a graphics guy was able to match it almost exact.

I saved the old original steel wheels and had them stripped and repainted, they look better than new. I'll use those for the winter, and use the new aluminum ones in the picture for summer.

I agree. Most people would of junked it and bought another car. It's rare to see a SC in such good condition.

it really does look new. You really would've failed inspection for rust? I didn't know you could fail for that!

In Maryland, you can fail for having tinted windows......

Looks really nice, What i admire most about the restoration is the fact, no modifcations were done, restored it to stock....

Looks nice, any restro on the interior as well?

Inspection - Yep, it had a couple rust holes all the way through the body. You fail inspection in MA if there are holes in the body. Doesn't make a lot of sense, but whatever.

Interior - The inside is in good shape. I had to replace the headliner and visors, the fabric finally gave out. The carpet could stand to be replaced, but it isn't terrible. The driver seat has the standard tear in it, but I got a seat cover.

I had SFCs installed, next will be new springs, shocks, struts. Then new carpeting. Probably will get the seats re-upholstered in leather sooner or later.

I was thinking the same thing. Way to go! Makes me kinda wish I had kept my '82 SC. Oh yeah, it got totalled.
