UPDATE:Black pearl paint in the process w/cowl scoop and 18" Iroc Rims mounted

Kinda hard to balance the funds when I have my speed boat, bronco and my camaro to tend to....This is why it is hard to balance the funds going to each other....Its my 91 camaro that is getting painted at the moment...Also got a good deal on some 18" Iroc Rims and tires....Ill let the pics do the talking...

16" Iroc comparted to 18" Iroc Rim

Did you go for the chrome or polished wheels? Mind if I ask where ya got them and what you paid? I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with polished 18" on mine, since my other choices (ZR6 and Firehwawks) are out of production now. Good luck with it.

Thanks for the compliments gofaster.....I should have the camaro back by wednesday....along with the rims from the shop....I bought them for 850 with rims and tires...Only thing is that i had to bring them to shop to have them fit my camaro bolt pattern because the bolt pattern they had on them before was 5on5 or 5on5.5....All in all i think it was well worth it...They are chromed out and i was thinking of getting them triple dipped chrome ....

Also here is the run down on the paint...Its a custom gloss black with a pearl purple added to it...The pearl purple means that if you look at it a certain way,it will look purple but if you look at it from another angle,it will look black....So anxious to see the finished product...And i must say i love my cowl scoop....Even though its not gonna be in time for my bday (19th of march),i think it will be worth the wait.

NICE..........

Even with the modifications you had to do, still totaly worth every penny.

I am with you, covering up the stock emblems is right on the money, except I went over mine with new SS decals.

anyway, good choice.

yeah they are 18s....They dont look like it because im running 255/40/18s all around......Just a little more sidewall for my taste..Also its because the front piece isnt on,side skirts and other graffics arent on....So it looks a little weird.

Looks like your about to go muddin Those GFX's better make that car look lower to the ground! Otherwise I think some lowering springs may be the next investment. Those should look good tucked in there though...Good job!!

I like the cowl....but the rims make the car look lifted. I'd lower it at least an inch or two.

I love them, good choice for tires and wheels.

Hey, I just bought me a set of 18" wheels (not IROC kind) but nice chrome 5 star babies... I cannot wait to get them on and get pics, I have to wait to afford tires and adaptors..

Anway, goo looking car, let us see her when she is all done...

Looking good. Make sure ya post some pics when its all done. Since those are the same size wheels and tires I'm thinking of for mine, I'd like to get a good look at them on yours. What tires are those?

I dont think ill need a drop....It just looks high because the body skirts arent on.......Not to mention,i didnt think i needed a drop when i had my 16s.....2 reasons why i wont get a drop....1 being i will scrape up front and i dont wanna fudge up the paint job and 2 i dont wanna lose ride quality just for the look....Maybe just maybe i might get a 1" drop if it doesnt look right with the body skirts on.

hey niterider,

Don't sweat a 1" drop, leave it stock, she looks good.

Your right, you scrape everything, and if you have a custom exhaust system like I do, you will rub that also, and there is no big advantage (as far as I know0 over a drop and stock when drag racing (if that's your kind of thing)..

my 18's are on the way........... yes

Yeah i really dont want to scrape upfront considering the cost of the paint job and the downtime it will take to fix it if i do scrape. Its a cruiser....maybe once or twice to the track thats all....The rest of the time im just "CRUISIN" as Smokey Robinson once said.Only other mods i have left to do is add my front clear corner signal light and but in a transgo shiftkit in the trans and ill be good to go.If i come across a used drop kit thats an inch i will probably buy it but the cost of one brand new and the cost of my new paint job makes my check book think different.

Also Congrats on the 18s...Make sure to get some pics....

looks good, the links arent workin tho. whats all this about scraping with a drop? i have sport lines in my car and not one part of my body has ever hit the ground, the only thing that wil scrape is the air dam which isnt a big deal at all. hell the car was even towed with a wrecker at this ride height with out a problem

Nice choice of color, eye catching but still tasteful. The car will definately look lower with the GFX on, so I wouldn't worry about lowering until you have it all togther.

I gotta say, the cowl hood really makes the car. All very tasteful and subtly aggressive. I want to see photos with all the GFX and nose back on.

Okay, have you ever pulled into any mild to high incline drive-ways? I know everone with an f-body will scrape doing that. And what about speed bumps or pot holes (yes, I know, again everyone will scrape, but not as bad as with a drop)? Also, as I already said, what about a custom exhaust that is not tucked up like the stock system, for sure you will scrape then.

However, your IROC-Z is looking good, I have nothing bad to say about drops, I would do one if I could, but I just really cannot.

let me first say this, third gens are sports cars, not offroad trucks, if u want to fly down roads full of mogels and parking lots full of speed bumps or crawl over berm and granite curbing drive a lifted silverado, if u want to hug corners at 70mph on exit ramps, have a ride height that not only looks good but serves a purpose, drive a third gen.

does a 45* incline at a 90* right angle to the street count as a high incline? cause yes i go up and down it all the time, my friends driveway is like that and the only thing that hits is my air dam, of course there is care to be taken when doing so, but it is a driveway ur not supposed to go screwing up them at 30mph. speed bumps? well my intermediate pipe will scrape if i dont crawl over them slow enough, but that happend even with the stock springs. my exhaust isnt stock, it consists of shorty headers, custom Y pipe and at the time a test pipe and dynomax cat back. the Y pipe actually hangs a little low and it still hasnt been a problem. now obviously i take some care when i drive this car and i will try to dodge pot holes if i can (who doesnt?) but even when i do hit them theres no problem with scrapage. nite rida stated he didnt want body damage to his car, unless ur trying to get 4 wheel air its pretty hard to hit the front lip on the ground, of course there are some situations where u can IE: curbing, weve all seen thirdgens around with a battered lip but im willing to bet they were stock ride height. in my opinion any low clearence areas that are there with lowering springs are the same areas that are problems with stock springs. so what u gotta take a little extra time over speed bumps, intimidating inclines and on trecherous roads. i wouldnt let that turn someone away from lowering springs.

Nite Rida': my suspension consists of eibach sportline springs, i have 25.5" fender lip to ground measurements in the front and 26" in the rear. u can compare those to what u have now and see the difference. im also not running the rear isolators which helps with the rake of the vehicle and actually makes the front lip further away from the ground due to the rear sitting lower

i think if u lowered it and took care when encountering situations where scraping is a risk ull do just fine and not run into any problems.

I just got my 18's on this week. I went with 245/40/18 front and 265/40/18 rear. I like them a lot better than the cragar's I did have on it.

Now it DEFINETELY needs a drop.

I think i could crawl underneath there on all fours and not even need a jack.
