Cragar Clearance...I need to know SOON!
I was ordering the Baer Claw 13" and 12" Rear systems, and the guy wouldn't go through w/ the order b/c I said I wasn't 100% sure it would clear the 17x8" Cragar SS'. Has anyone verified this? I can't use the template, b/c I don't have the rims, and I can't go anywhere to see if they'd fit. Some people say no problem...others say NO...
Anyone have personal experience w/ it or know off hand? I need to order these brakes b/c they take the longest to ship...
Thanks!

How big are the baer brakes compared to C5 brakes? Those are 17" crager's in that picture, C5's are 12.75"'s ... .don't know how much .25 of and inch would change things.

Are the calipers bigger than the Baer system? I'd like to see a picture of the rim from behind to actually see how much clearance there is.
Any more info from anyone? It would really help me out. I'd like to order these asap.
Thanks a lot!!

I'm no expert in this section but I'm pretty sure baer just uses factory GM parts slaps they're sticker on it and jacks up the price.
I know LS1 and C5 calipers are identical so would assume that is what those calipers are.. but then again don't take my word on that you should look into it though.

My 17" Firehawk wheel's ID is less then that...It has a step in. Can't fit Baer 13" brakes either. It measures slightly over 15". I need to check to see if my LS1 rears will even fit.

SO, they'll fit but you'll have to get the right tire combo to work. I doubt a 255 tire will fit without rubbing issues. A 245 tire may rub on the '91-91 cars with the aero effects, but the earlier cars shouldn't have any problems.

It seems that they were all talking about the stock rims. 16" IROC'S have the largest Inside Dia. from what I gathered. Justin's 17" Firehawks were even smaller than that! I think what was said was that the C5, LS1, and Baer kit all used the same size calipers, correct? From the other link, w/ that being said, it looks CLOSE w/ 12.75" rotors, but I'd like to see the actual clearance from behind, or have someone post who knows for sure, or knows the Inside Diameter of them.
Any idea's?

I just need to know what you need to clear the 13" setup...what's the diameter clearance that you need...then I need to know what the 17x8 Cragar S/S' have for their inside diameter. I THINK they should fit, but I just want to double check.

Well, I'm about to give up on these boards regarding this topic...
1. Be running the exact wheel in the exact size as yours
2. Be running the exact same Baer brake setup
3. Be on the board in the last couple of days and notice your post
Not likely. Why don't you call Cragar and check the dimensions? You say that the Baer brakes will have the longest lead-time, but don't hold your breath waiting for the Cragars either. I ordered a set of the 17" Forged S/S wheels and they said it would be 6-8 weeks!
