Well look who thinks he's special for being in Autorama.
Jeff, I wish I could of made it down there this year and checked out all the rides, looks like it was a great show. The car looks stunning as usual, blah blah.

WOW!!!! That is sweet!! Is the Nitrous bottle painted the same color as your car? How many trophies have you won with that thing?
I went to the Autorama here in Columbus and there were a few thirdgens. One was black that seemed to have a bunch of cosmetic work done, the other was a low mileage all original iroc with the 305 tpi red, can't recall the year. Wondering if those were anyone's cars?
Also, Kandied, were there any other thirdgens at your show? Did they do awards or anything like that? Car is sweet. Any shots of the interior or engine?

very nice, but the ss hood or whatever it is looks poor compared to the stock hood, and the car has still the scary SUV-stance. One of the best 3. gens i have ever seen

well thanks for the nice words.....sorry you couldn't make it either eric as there were some nice rides for sure.
Jgolden314 it was nice talking to you too, sorry i didn't have more time but i was really tired from the whole ordeal.
nolanr0413 what do you mean about the guages?
Thomas Aquinas yes the nitrous bottles (2) are painted to match the car. as far as trophies i've won quite a few...more then really necessary but the two that i'm proud the most of are the camaroz28.com award for outstanding camaro out of 500 cars to choose as well as the best modifed thirdgen from camaro superfest. the car will also be featured in a few primedia publications coming up which is also a great honor.
as far as autorama, my class and cars in the show there where only 3 thirdgens. one was a fully blown pontiac and the other was a convertible iroc on what looked like 18's. unfortunately i was stuck in a class of 30 for the 90-2002 conservative hardtop so i was competing against montecarlos and lowriders but overall the show was alot of fun!
Graboid, when they are lowered as much as ours for the street you can't get them loaded on trailers. i had to have it raised when i was doing work on the car and then i was late for setup so i didn't have time to drop it back down.....i agree with you and it bothers me so but there wasn't anything i could do. i couldn't complain seeing as how two days before the show i had no interior or driveline and the car was covered in 5 months of shop dust so i think it came out well.
thanks again for all the kind words....if any of you want to check out more pictures look on pages 19 and 20 of my page below.

what i mean about the gauges is, they look good for a stock car, but your car is far from that , do you plan on doing something custom likr autometers or go with a digital dash. Something more updated .

Jeff -
I just wanted to say that you display was awesome this year. Although last year you had the prime spot. Your car looked amazing. When I went by you weren't there and I wanted to compliment you there but you were probably off sleeping in the back somewhere!
Also, What kind of sterring wheel do you have? Did you dye it or something? Cause we have the same year car and mine seems to have more of a shine. Maybe it's because mine is so old. who knows.

i probably was off sleeping..........i know one morning some guy yelled at me for sleeping by my car. hey, it was a long week.
as far as the wheel, my actual wheel is brand new from gm, the airbag isn't and it's a little glossy compared to the wheel. the wheel when new shouldn't shine at all. however i'm sure with yours just like my old one someon probably put some armoral or another comparable product to make it look better which only ruins them. mine had a spot at 12 o'clock on the wheel that started to rub through so i replaced it.

for anyone that remembers last year i really didn't have much of a display then....the judges told me i would stand a chance if i didn't have something down so last minute i had to throw something together to serve it's purpose.
this was last years...

Yah the lady before me used armor all. And being a 13 year old car the sterring wheel is really nasty and has spots all over it. Im looking to replace it.
Your car is amazing. So did you put another motor in? Last time I saw it you had that 383 with the huge chevy bowtie valve covers? Did you do something else?

well that motor blew up thanks to the wonderful people at tpis with their excellent fabrication and tuning skills the 8,000 motor lasted a whole 800 miles. so yeah i had to redo it. a completely new bottom end and i had the fastburn heads and miniram ported and finished to work well with the new cam and other pieces. it's now a 388. appearance wise everything is the same except i had the block, canton pan and valvecovers powdercoated candy red to match the car for a change.......still not sure if i like it but the cast aluminum being raw stained really easily so they were extremely difficult to clean after all the motor work i had to do trying to save the last engine.
my last motor was a gm performance parts 383 shortblock, fastburn heads, tpis zz-409 cam, gm 1.5's, tpis stage 6 chip and miniram III.
the new motor is a gm block but it's now machined to a 388. using diamond pistons, crower rods, comp roller cam, comp 1.6 rockers, ported fastburns with new springs and the rest and a heavily modified miniram III.
the only thing i have left to do is finish tunning and machine off the tpis logos off the intake and i'm done under the hood.

I ran into you at the show.... car looked AMAZING.
Here's a pic of the engine I got...
I'm not trying to copy you.. but my car has alot of similar features... except I ended up going with sunset red, carb instead of TPI and a 5 speed setup... and boyds. We should line 'em up at Grand Bend for the Canadian long weekend in May (May 21-24). I'll give you a go.
Here's the engine bay in PPG sunset red:
You can see the screws for the 4 corner weight jacks coming through the frame rail here:
The engine (383... all good stuff, 11.5:1):
And the boyds:
currently it's rolling on the wheels and suspension, drivetrain goes in as soon as the clutch arrives.

I dont know about the other guys but for me i think your kind of the inspiration to do this car. I'm always looking at your pictures going someday rs someday your gonna look liek that except candy teal absolutely stunning car. I think if you try just a tad maybe you could find someone to sponsor an air ride system on that beast. If your ever gonna be in colorado let me know i gotta see this thing in person:hail: :hail: :hail:

get those pictures developed i'd love to see them, as well as any of the other cars you took photos of since i really didn't get to walk around the show at all.
thanks alot everyone for all the kind words....there has been alot of work put into the car over the last 7 years to get it where it is and i'm still trying to change things as i go along which isn't always the best idea. to have fellow thirdgen lovers say even one nice comment really makes it all worth while especially in a hobby that doesn't necessarily cater to our cars it really makes a difference.
johnyIROC thanks for posting the picture of the engine, i must say i was quite out of it that weekend but i do remember talking to someone about the weightjacks as well as your mods. if the car ends up looking anything close to those engine bay pictures i can't wait to see it and grand bend sounds like an excellent idea, i'd love to do it.
thanks again everyone....

As for Grand Bend, I'll be there. I won't start the trash talk until it's running... but I'll give you a run for your money sans nitrous.. wait... forget the money part

i liked the stock hood too but it weighs way to much and the paint was a bit damaged. if i can build a light replacement for the repaint i will but a 100+lb hood is rediculous.
