Should I install my hood locks or not? You decide

I bought a set of hood locks for my car about 2 months ago. At the time...I thought that they would look good....and would definently help with the flexing of my hood. Now..I'm wondering if they will improve the look of my car...or if they will hurt the look of it. What do you think? All opinions are welcome! Thanks

Hood locks are crap, my opinion. If you reinforce the hood correctly, it won't flex as much as you think. Definately leave them OFF! Nice paint on that hood!!

Keep up the good work

put em on , it will stop the hood from doing funny stuff. Are you talking about the zeus fasteners or pins. dont do the pins do the locks.

it's not the zues fasteners.....the hood pins I bought have the plate like hood locks, but have a key, to unlock the lock. I can get a picture here in a few.

the thing is though...is that I don't have to go 100 MPH for the hood to start "lifting" a little (where the headlight pockets are) Here is a picture of the hood locks, they are not blue....it's a protective coating so they won't get scratched...

Leave em off. I think they make cars look less sleek, and more "old school". Just my personal preference, but.... Chuck 'em!

Leave them off, it will absolutly ruin the look of your car....

Hey look, here a nice smooth black car with two chrome hinges sticking out of the hood.....

Those hinges will do to your hood what my wing does to the rest of my car......

That's what I was wondering. My hood does seem to have a few stress crack's in the paint because of the wobbling...but it's only on the drivers side....and I need to figure out how to fix it. I'm not sure if it's hitting something or what. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to use the hood locks...and I agree that it might just not look right with'em there....now...if it was a lighter color...I think they would look better. I'm going to return them to Autozone tomorrow. Thanks for all of the opinions guys

how exactly do you instal those pins anyways I take it you drill in the hole and that would be easy. But how do does the lock stay sttached to my hood? From the looks of the pic, it seems that has a washer on the bottom and the lock fastens the top. I have a white car so i will probably pick a set up. I just bought an aftermarket glass hood and it will be on the car with freash paint in a week. I really dont want to ruin a new hood because of hood flex

I say do it. If the hood lifts you should do it. I'm running the same pins on my 91 Z. Here is a pic if you want to check it out. My glass hood also lifts at speed if they are unlocked. Lock it and the hood is solid.

the plate attaches with a nut on the bottom. The actual locks attach to whereever you mount them...like on your radiator support. Does anyone a picture with either locks or pins on an SS hood? The thing that is weird is that when my hood start to wobble....it's only on the drivers side....not the passenger side. The passenger side it fine...dosen't wobble one bit.

One day, I went ahead and took my spring completely out of my hood....and it seemed to fix the problem....but...I can't have that...because then I wouldn't be able to open my hood.

I'm going to uncover my hood this thursday and sit the plate that comes with the locks....then I can post a picture to see what you guys think. I kind of don't want to install the locks....but...my hood does wobble...and I'm not sure what else to do....

i have hood pins on my car and IMO they look freggin sweet. i think the locks will fix your hood problem and give your car a little edge that will perfectly accent your beautiful rims. PUT UM ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm currently reinforcing my glass hood...I'll post pics when I'm done w/ it. There ARE other alternatives to fixing a weak glass hood. Don't do the pins, but it's all personal preference really. Do what YOU want, not what others tell you.

are those the spectre hood pins. if so they are junk. they will start to rust and oxidize on you really quick. that happened to my el camino. a few days it looked freakin slick as hell but weeks passed and they rusted up and the paint started to crack around the trim rings. i would leave them off unless they are anodized or something that is a tough coating.

If done right, they'd look pretty good... but I wouldn't chance it.. it looks pretty nice as it is IMO.
