Those with the Camaro SS hood...
To those with the SS hood... I like the looks, but the fact that the end of the cowl just kind of drops off, instead of flowing over the end of the hood bothers me.
Has anyone got any closeups of the side profile of the SS hood on a car?
To those that have it, does it bother you? Do you ever wish you'd gotten a different hood?
I'm really wanting that look, but argh...
Its either that or the Cervini or Harwood hood.

i'm not sure what your asking...are you talking about the lip near the glass that extends pass the actual hood almost giving an arch like effect??
if so then no the ss hood is pretty much straight forward as far how it ends. there isn't an arch to it at all which is another reason why i personally like it. cowl hoods are alright but they are bland and common. myself i would have rather had a remake of my stock hood or something similar to the japanese hood but the ss hood looks good. definately made my car alot more aggressive looking and the cowl isn't so high that its a pita to see either which is nice.

hey Cmeb4ubuy you know a SS hood with a nice roll bar would look badass on your car. Might just be me, but the SS hood looks best on verts.

Ok, next question: As far as the back of the hood, where the cowl drops off, is it sealed off or is there a vent in it?

nope
I would think it would look funny with a vent in in though. It's molded the same way as the 96-97 SS Camaro's were and it's exaclty the same...it looks fine...nothing funny about it

Thanks ChevyKen, thats EXACTLY the pic I wanted.
To those that do have the hood, how much prep work, or money was involved in getting the thing to fit right. I've heard this is a pretty bad mold for the hood.
Oh, one more thing - What have you done about the vent in the center of the scoop? Does the hood come with the cover for it?

Hey 1badrocz do you know where I could find one of these roll bars? I know that third gen resource is trying to get one out but it seems to be taking a while. So any other suggestions would be great. Thanks
P.S. anyone think a roll cage would look good in a convert with an ss hood?

prep work really depends on your tastes....as far as fitment i didn't have to do anything to get it to fit right. could have just painted and bolted it on. for true show purposes beyond my own modifications just to make it look nice it was better then some i've played with but i still had roughly 8 hrs of finish work....
it all depends on the level of finish you want. had i had to pay full amount for products, typical hour rate of the job, the hood itself and paint i would be up around 2600. now if i had the stock color and didn't care about shows maybe around 1,000.
the mold itself isn't necessarily "bad" it just could use some work. my hood for example almost bows in the center so you can see a raised portion slightly from the side of the car. a few things here and there that could be work out by your body guy but should be worked out by the company......however i've never made a mold so i don't know how hard it would be to fix that sort of thing except that with actual shop time i would assume at least 40+hours to shave and refill the necessary areas.
i'm somewhat impressed with the quality but not impressed in other areas for what it costs.......however that seems to be the same for just about everything built for our cars. one things for certain its definately lighter and it gives an aggressive look to the car for sure.
good luck in your choice.
