Remove door molding or not?
Should I remove the door modling or does it look better with the molding? The car is no longer daily driven, so door dings are not an issue.

I think it's all about personal taste. I personally think they look really good, as they break up the door quite nicely. Other people like the clean look of a door without the mouldings.
One thing is that they seem to look better on cars with more going on, such as the 91-92 GFX on the Camaro etc.

do you plan on repaiting the whole car? Because even if it is painted under there its going to be totally different then the rest of the car and look totally retarted.

Obviously, if I remove one of the small bumpers and find that the paint is faded, then they're not coming off. The paint is only a few years old and the car has always been garaged. We'll see. The main thing is consensus of the board-- whether the bumpers enhance or worsen the appearance of the vehicle.

i wanted to remove mine, but now i just want to remove all my decals instead when i get painted some day!!
u cant go wrong leaving them on because u can barely see them, plus i wouldnt feel safe trying to get them off and messing up the paint or metal around them.

I voted for taking them off, i dont really mind them personally, but if you are not gonna repaint the car, then its preaty risky, even if taking off a small one, you might mess up the paint around it, or the paint might even come up with the molding, like chips of it. I am gonna take mine off, but not before i have money to paint the car

I'm not worried at all about the glue or releasing it from the paint. The foam tape adhesive releases with some heat, the bcc paint is in new condition, and the slightest peeling back of one of them will tell of the fading.
I really don't have a strong opinion on what looks best, and that's why I'm asking the board.

I say keep it, you hardly notice it on your car, whenever I am on the fence about something I usually choose the path of least resistence. I think with or without can both look good depending on the rest of the package.

FYI,
Not all thirdgens came with them standard. My 82 T/A has no side mouldings at all, and it's original paint, no accidents. Unless the first owner took them off way back in 82, otherwise I think I'd see an oxidation difference as my paint is pretty bad.

I'm torn on this one, I like the looks of having it off. However I LOVE to drive my car, whether it be to the track or to the store, and even with the molding on there I have had people door me, and cause damage. I remember my wifes 1986 IROC hers didnt have a molding, and hers had lots of little dings on it.
So I guess I'll vote for keeping them on, if you ever park your car places...
if its just a show car / race car take em off!

You can always solve that by parking far away from every1 else and walking!! That's the only way and I always make sure to do it.

Yeah thats what I do...Molding isnt gonna stop that one brain dead person that wants to ding your car.
If you have the fat later style molding, I say keep it. I think they look good on the car. It adds a nice crisp line to the side of the car.
