Well as far as it being a daily driver it would be fine as long as you have a garage. Because even if you drove in the rain it wouldnt go in due to the angle except when you were at a stop light, and then any water would just evaporate almost instantly, that is unless you like takeing your car out in torrential down pours.

Holy **** that is the nicest hood i've EVER seen. too bad, i wouldn't be able to afford the price tag that comes w/ it. damn that is beautiful though.
wish there will be a group purchase in a year or so. maybe then, besides, we all know the few people who have 3rds just are waiting to upgrade to a 4th gen.
oh well, i'll have mine for a long **** time.

what if someone like say ascd or thirgenresource or even anyone who had some mad glass skills could make a hood very similar to this in fiberglass instead of CF it would be less expensive and i'm not a fan of the unpainted CF look anyway

less $ = more sales

the issue with that is i have yet to be convinced that anyone interested in the third gen market has those type of skills, see how even in the center of the hood there is that little crease to mimick the body line in the front bumper cover. That hood is rediculously well crafted and i have seen too many poor fitting fiberglass hoods over here. If someone with the talent could actually put it together id find a way to work my tail off to buy one and be able to support them. Ya see the difference between north america and japan is that we have a ton of trades people but most of them have very low skill levels, they have very few trades people but the ones they do have are freaking brilliant and amazing at what they do

You know, when I see posts with pics of thirdgens in Japan they are all VERY nice. Even if the taste isn't to my liking, the cars are always done very professionally.

Any one ever wonder why? How about this reason. In Japan, F-bodies are a import, JUST to get the car over there costs money. And the people who are buying them are fairly well off. So, they usually WILL have money to work on the car, or have it professionally done.

In Japan, the skyline is an expensive car, but export that car to the US and its price SKY rockets. So the only people who have Skylines here, in the US, are very well off people.

the hood not as expensive as it says... i e-mailed them bout a week ago and got the reply today..

"Hallow I`m Gotou Grace is owner

Although a problem is in a mailling cost now for a mailling cost cheaper than now next year.
Or if there are ten collected orders,I will think that a mailling cost becomes cheap.

thank you Gotou

:edit: ok so i think i read that wrong... i guess the hood is 1200 and 1000 to get it shipped over here.. 2200 dollars? i pass

Damn, that mail looks like it was translated through babel fish.

If it was, copy the original, non translated text and sent it to me. I'm partially fluent in Japanese, and could probably translate it into readable English.

I got one today as well, pretty close to what was posted up there. Here is it:

Dear Bryan

I still want in. If ten people are down, lets do this thing! I seriously doubt ten of us would stick with it though. Bunch of talk when it comes to stuff like this. Anyway, if all goes well with my tax return i may just throw it all at this hood. It seems to be a pretty quality piece, although, maybe messing with the international shipping could be a huge problem if anythinge were ever to go wrong with it. I would be stuck with an expensive *** lawn ornament!!

Or, if you look at it in another way, it could be a way of them telling us that they really don't want their stuff over here!?!? Take a look: "Our Ducted carbon hoods are the quality goods which have not been seen until now.

If many American people can have and get interest on this carbon United States.
If you please, please transmit this carbon hood to many persons.

Because,it is for lowering the price in the United Stetas." Now, that could mean that this quality has not been seen here in the US before and we would have to pay to get it here, or it could just mean that we should strike interest in it? I don't know, broken english sucks! lol Also, i do not think that it would cost $1000 to ship it here. Can anyone confirm this, or atleast guess at what the cost would be to ship a hood overseas? It seems rather high. Maybe most of it is the handling charge and they really do take care of the hood before they ship it off so it does not get damaged as easily.

So, what happens when it rains??? Do you get a free engine wash. I still don't like it. All that water right into the engine.

unless you drove in a complete monsoon you wouldnt get that much in your engine bay. Also if you can afford this hood chances are your camaro isnt your only car.

I'm not talking about driving while raining. I just mean if you went to the mall and it rained out, it would go right into the engine. It's wide open. Wouldn't take much. Same thing if it snow's.

You might have better luck getting one of the sponsors to create that hood in a fiberglass model.......once again considering you had a buy-in.......

I got another response from them. They seem firm on 10 HOODS! Basically, $15,000 and we can get that hood over here. Pretty Insane. Or, we could get a few people together with a sponsor who knows how to deal with CF, and buy one hood, get it here and then reproduce it! If possible. Any takers? Here is the email i got:

Dear Bran.
We will be able to ship out ( 10sets of ) our products at the end of February.
The price will be $1480.00 a S&H fee will be charged if you order from other than the state of California.
You can order our products on E-Mail, so please check our E-Mail grace@grace-co.co.jp
We will give you notice two weeks before shipment.
Thank you
Gotou.

I am still very interested in this hood. If i have to i'll wait until i run into some cash like a bonus in the spring and hopefully i'll get another decent tax return. Anyway, anyone want to host some pics of their cars? I have them in two other emails from them. These cars are sick!! Anyone want to help me post them? thanks

we would never be able to get 10 people to commit to buying the hood at $1,480 a pop. i doubt anyone like ascd or hawks would reproduce this since they would have to build the mold from scratch and you won't get near enough people to commit. someone on here (tpi383 i think) was supposedly working on making one, but got sidetracked with other projects iirc.

the problem is, 100 people will say "i would definitely buy it if someone made it". then someone like bruce will come around and say i'm thinking about making it, the price will be about $650 per hood, i need at least 10 deposits of $100 each to start production. then out of those 100 people, 85 of them won't respond, 13 of them will say "if only i had the money" or "i gotta do xxxx first before i can buy a hood", and you're left with only 2 people who will actually put their money where their mouth is. this is exactly what happened with the notchback that bruce reproduced. that's why it took so long to start, and it wouldn't have gone through if bruce wasn't such a nice guy and agreed to do it even though he had half the people committed that he asked for.

i found the thread i was talking about.

That certainly is a nice hood but it reminds me of the 02 Mustang Cobra Hood...same concept. I think us carbed guy's would need the 2" version, also what would happen when it rains? all the water would channel down into your engine bay and it would make a mess.

funny thing is i got a call about a month ago from bruce saying its finnally done..... i was ready and had money to buy it when he first started the mold...i was one of the first 10 that comitted to it. but now im poor and not gonna buy one.

Bruce made this hood? Or are you talking about the notchback? I was one of the first few to stick in there for his 5" iroc spoiler and would do the same with this hood as I am the one who started most of this bs on here and researched the company! Once I got a price and posted it, there was little to no interest. And I completely understand that point of view given the facts.
