The tint depends where you're from...here in CA any tint in the rear and back window is legal and on the sides its 70%. In New Jersey its none on front side windows and any in back. As for the instant tint...I had an idea about that when I was in middle school...liquid crystal windows...and guess what? They've actually come out on a prtotype concept vehicle by Ford in the early 90's can't remember the name. The windows could tint at the touch of the button. Actually they make those type of windows for home use. There have been a few attempts at it, but nothing for cars has been commercial. But I independantly thought of the idea on my own and that is when I found out there had already been attempts at it =) Here is an article on "smart windows" albeit for home use. Smart Windows
Oh and here are my tinted windows...
before
after
Its limo on back and I believe 35% in the fron windows...illegal but oh well =)

I have a question...What would be the point in getting Limo Tint if you have to roll your windows down to avoid getting a ticket? Anyways, I have 23% 3M tint all the way around. It's dark enough for me.

i have double limo....nice for shows and the look i wanted but a pain for driving at night.
if i had to do it again i'd go with an even lighter setup like 20% all around or possibly lighter.

i wanted to do the front but 6" from the top is as low as you can go legally. not that the sides are legal but i can at least roll them down.
double limo in the front is a major pain where the car sits making traffic lights hard to see.

20% all around on mine. Ive had darker and it sucks at night. Rolling down windows when its cold and raining jsut to see if its clear is a pain. Im much happier with the 20%

Same question is on my mind... looks like 20% is the way to go. I like the way it looks. My car looks stock, and I want it to be tinted to hide the roll cage, but not too much whereas it is obvious that there is something up with the car.

I put the 20% on the sides, didnt get around to the back yet. I used the el-cheapo stuff from Pep Boys. I didnt think id keep it on too long, but here 2 year later it hasnt faded or anything.
I dont know what the laws are here in pa (they pretty much change them every year anyways) but I dont have any problem during the day and at night I dont have a problem unless theres no lights around at all. The only time I drive it is when its warm and I have the windows down anyways so it doesnt really matter.

with the percent...that's the percentage of light it allows through, right? like 75% lets 75% of the light through, 5% lets 5% through? for those of you with limo tint do you have problems w/ cops? on my RS, i think i got medium tint (not sure what the % was) but i'm about to get my iroc tinted and want darker. anybody know what % medium tint is?
i know the legal limit in GA is 32% and i went a little lower than that, so i think medium is around 27% or so

I'm gathering the lower the percentage, the darker the tint. Does anyone know what the legal tint percentage is in CA? I think the 20% looks best all around. Can most stereo/audio places do this? Also, is 3M the best brand for tint? Thanks

the place that i go to for tint uses solargard tint. it is suppose to be the best tint on the market and it never fades or turns purple, of course if it does and it is not too dark they have a LLT warranty on their work and the products they use.
my brother has 12% on all of the windows in his camaro and it is really hard to see out at night. he is selling the car, but if he was going to keep it, he was going to go back to the shop that we have do our work and have them overlay the back (which is already 12%) with 5% so that his subs could not be seen.
needless to say, the darker it is the harder it is to see at night; but also, the better off you are in the daytime as far as sunlight blinding you or damaging your interior.

5% on the sides and the hatch. I went with 3M tint (guarantee never to bubble). I didnt like the previous tint color (did not match my style), so I had it replaced with black. It looks like this:
When I first got my 91, the previous owner had titanium tint. It was 35% on the sides and rear (thats the legal limit here in Hawaii). It looked like this:

Well, I heard that you can't tint your windshield at all, but you can paint your back window with black paint if you like (that's what my cousing said who's a sheriff) However, I'd like to know the percentage for the sides.

Has anyone tinted the entire windsheild?
I was thinking about doing some mild tinting of the windsheild also, maybe something like 60% would be ok, but I am not sure how it would look.
