Well...not an appearance issue, but a smell issue. I was taking my cat to the vet, he got scared, jumped in my lap (didn't have a carrier), and pissed on my lap and think he sprayed either the door panel some and the carpet. Not alot, but enough to make my car smell for the past 4 months.

I have used Natures Miracle and other sprays that are supposed to get the smell out. Nothing has really worked. I think the smell has lessened in intensity, but it still sucks sooooo bad.

ANyone have any experience w/ this or cat **** in your home?

What have you done to get the smell out? I'm afraid I'll have to replace the carpet ....but I'd like to try other topical chemicals before I rip the carpet out.

Any suggestions would be great! And yes, I did by a cat carrier after the incident

if you can steam clean it, that would be best. try some baking soda, that stuff helps to neutralize smells.

febreeze is good at getting the smell out of my couches. Though it's not the pee smell per say it's more of just "a cat lives here" smell, which really isn't a smell... but you get the idea.

yeah...have not tried bakins soda. Tried febreeze; will cover the smell for a while, but it comes back.


I think I will prob steam clean .....hope that works.\

You are gonna have to remove the pee. You cannot cover up cat pee. It is brutal. Spend the money and steam clean your whole interior on a hot day and let the car air out. Then use some bounce dryer sheets (very potent) and should get rid of the smell. Tuck some of the dryer sheets under your seats sop that when your car is locked up and it gets hot out your car will smell like fresh wash when you get in it.

A place I used to work for sells it where and it works wonders, I jsut bought a bottle today, i dont know how to find a janitorial supply company that sells it. Its made by a company called Canberra....

Worst come to worst, I can buy a bottle at cost and ship it to you UPS, it would be about $2-3 for the stuff and not more than $5 shipping..just trying to help

When I was still living at home my parents cat got into my firebird and decided to relieve itself on my seat. I NEVER got the smell out no matter what I tried. I ended up ditching those seats and getting a set of 93 camaro buckets. Black and red (matches car perfectly. )

I tried febreeze and all the so called odor eater sprays. I guess steam cleaning or a deep deep shampooing would be the best. You would probably need to take off the upholstry on the seat and get the foam under it.

go back to the vets and buy a spray for that kinda thing, i know the vets here have that stuff to clean it and neutralize the odor.

I have two cats.

my little cat silver decided over some time that my room was now his. he pissed on everything I had on the floor as in clothes. any rugs he would **** on etc etc.

eventually I had to rip the whole downstairs carpet out. the smell was even in the concrete basement floor. I tried javex on the floor and it still wouldn't come out.

you might have to get a new car hehe

febreeze did nothing. it just smelled like febreeze and ****.

lol, anyway, yea, use WD40, but VERY little, or it will make a dark patch. It isn't a permanent patch, but it does last a LONG time.

Also another good reason to go leather over cloth. Cat pee's just wipe it up, wash it up, put some leather conditioner and no more smell

Fortunately, I put 4th gen leather in already and the cat didn't **** on them. His back end was pretty much hanging over the door-side edge of my driver's seat when he let go. I thought he got the door panel and some of the carpet between the driver seat and the door sill. I'm still chasing down exactly WHERE the smell is coming from. I got down yesterday and smelled the carpet tryng to find a nasty spot. It would have been hilarious if anyone walked up and saw me sniffing my car interior.

Everything smelled clean except for an area of carpet between the driver and rear seat. I doused that with some chemicals and I'll work on it a few days to see if it gets better.

I can't kill my cat. Sometimes I want too, but he's an allright dude most times (never pees inside the house). I can sacrifice a Honda instead.

I probably will have a date with a steam-cleaner this weekend, when I'll have time to pull the seats out. Explosive diarreah would have been way more disgusting at the time, but a hell of a lot easier to clean in the long run.

man...I'd never let any animals in my car...even if they were in a cage....then again..I don't even drive mine in the rain...haha..sorry...that was a lil off the subject. Anyhow...I could even try getting some scolding hot water and a scrub brush. Mix some laundry detergent up and scrub it. Anything is worth a try...good luck man

I haven't found anything that gets rid of a cat urine smell. Our cat peed on my hockey pants and i tried everything to get the smell out, finally i got the idea and went out and bought 4 car air freshners and hung then off the side of my pants when i played. Worked for a few weeks, then i decided to break down and buy new pants. If only i would of known about WD40 then

ive never heard of WD40 for smells, but try that first..

afterward, try going to a car wash and using the carpet shampoo machine.... see if that gets it out.. (it should atleast get the WD40 out )

i heard that an onion in a tray of water will work for paint smells in your house, but the onion stinks aswell. try baking soda. when you get the smells out please post the solution. my wife came home with 2 kittens a couple of months ago,trained to use the box,they do but the info my be useful. thanks.

Moth flakes, I know that doesnt smell much better, but we got 3 cats here, so stuff like that does happen. Pull the carpet back and sprinkle some under it. Pull the door panel off, put some on top and sit it in your garage for a week. After a week vacuum it up and put down some bakin soda in its place, then use a spray foam deodorizer and steam clean the carpet. Works every time.

Of coarse the works in the house, never had it happen in my cars, get a carrier.

Ahhhhh finally I got the smell out!!! Sorry for keeping everyone waiting so long. I rented a steam cleaner last weekend and took out both seats and went to town. Damn my carpets were dirty. I was amazed at how clean it looked. And I also hit the door panels and wow......big diff there. Mine are normally light-grey and were looking dark-grey before I steam cleaned them.

Ok....so now its been a week. Still no smell. Every now and again I think that I might be catching a wiff of it. But I don't really think so. I thinks its like Pavlov's dog and the bell, but for me its the smell of carpet conditioners. You know what I mean??


ANyway...its been a great success. DO it anyway cause your car is filthy and you know you need to.

Get all of your male cats neutered.

I know, it's not normal for a man to take in a male cat to have his marbles removed. Kinda feel for the cat but.......no more spraying in the house or car tires.

I had a female cat in "season" about 10 years ago. A male cat seemed to know that my Camaro belonged to the female cat and he continually sprayed my rims and tires for about two months. I could smell it before I even got my keys out of my pocket.

Now, all of my cats or dogs are neutered or spayed.

cat "sprey" is next to impossible to remove. we had some on carpet (the cat dissapiered somehow) we had to remove the carpet, matting, and replace the press wood floor in that section. we had serv pro (cleaning company) and that was their recomendation after 3 attemps of removial. if u can remove and replace as much as possible. and kill cat will make you feal better..

I had a cat too...it used to walk all over my car and then one night it pissed"sprayed" under the car and the smell came inside the car..... It cost me like a whole 5cents to cure the future problem happening again ...... can you say 22mag.
And Im dead serious I dont mind cats that dont climb on cars or ones that dont **** or spray your whole damn house or porch..but how many dont do it

oh by the way good luck....that smell is the worst! next time tape him to the outside of the car for the drive to the vet
