It may have been SEC, a modular wheel company. I don't remember if it were an akrynom or just SEC.
Why do you want to know all the differnent Billet wheel manufacturers? You planning on getting some different custom rims?

At $700-900 per rim, thats too exotic for me. I don't think I would ever be able to afford that nice of some rims.
I heard that billet aluminum is susceptible to bending very easily like when hitting a pot hole. I would hate to spend $2000 for rims just to have them bent the next day because of construction or bad roads.

How well made or strong are the Boyd Coddington wheels. The "Tuned" rim is the only one I like enough to give up my GTAs for and at $1000 for 17 X 8s, just the right price as well.

Car: too many ...
Here's some stuff off of Boyds website:
Q: What is the difference between 1 and 2-piece wheels?
A: A One-piece wheel is just that, a wheel made from a single cast. Two-piece wheels are made up of a barrel and a center that are welded together.
Q: What is the difference between billet and forged wheels?
A: Billet wheels are made of billet aluminum, which is a very dense and strong aluminum. Billet is only used in the center of the wheel, and a spun aluminum barrel is used. Forged billet wheels are heat treated to make the aluminum dense. Forged barrels are used on the wheels, making them stronger overall rim than billet rims
The strongest wheels made are 3 piece wheels. The weakest would be a 1 piece. Having the wheels get damaged by bad road conditions depends on what size tire (sidewall) you're running. On my truck I run 17" Budnik billet 2 piece wheels. The front tires have a 45 sidewall, the rears have 40. The front wheels are in great shape, but a while ago the rears did get damaged (out of round) from bad road conditions.
I'll have pics of the tuned wheels on my z28 this weekend (along with some other appearance mods). EFI Unlimited is having another cruze and some media company will be following us.

i'd really like to see those budnik wheels as well as the boyd hot rods as soon as you guys could as i have to order my wheels within the next day.
with the budnik, are they polished on both sides or just the face?
did you get the stepped lip or more of a smooth lip....or the deep dish?
also, what size did you get again?
with the boyds, same questions above......
also, why did you go with the 8's in the front? i was looking around fitting a 9 in the front but they told me to go with 8's so i'd like to know why you did it as well. i have 8's sitting on the car now and after having the 9.5's up front the 8's look like a "tuner" wheel.
have either of you weighed the wheels for a general overview? when i called to ask the weight they said they didn't know.
i like the options from both companies yet i haven't been able to find out if they polish the backsides of the wheels yet like intro. for shows it definately looks 100% better if you have an open face wheel.
any more info you guys could give me on your wheels as far as company overview would be great!

kandied 91z:
I had wide tires in the front of my 88 iroc-z i owned a few years ago. Looks good but the car follows the the truck tracks (i hope you know what i mean, my english sucks) on the road. And i do not like the same tire size in front and the back. I prefer a skinny front wheel and a well sized one in the back. If you cannot live with a 235 wide tire in the front, you should go to for 9 inch. I know that some of the forum users would not mind putting a 255 on a 8 inch rim. Maybe it is just me, but i think a 235 is the max., remember, an 8 inch rim is 203 milimeter wide. That gives you the idea why i do not like the look of a 255 milimeter wide tire on it.
I spent many hours with research in the net and this forum to find the combination that suits my eye and the rims best. I came to 225/45 18 in the front and 275/40 18 in the back. I have put the wheels on the car today, and i have to say that i am happy with the result.
I will get my digitalcamera back on thursday, and that's the day when i will post the pics of them in here.

what does £371 and £450 convert to in american?
interesting site for those over seas. not sure i'd go through the hassle of importing though unless the price was right.

Are you sitting comfortably Kandied?
Remember the dollar is very weak at the moment. £371 and £450 in UK Sterling converts to $687 and $833. At todays exchange rate of $1.87 to the pound (1$ buys 0.54).
Last year when the exchange rate was 1.4-1.55 they would have been much cheaper. For Brits importing car parts from the States it is fantastic at the moment.
Can you take a look at my other thread and offer an opinion? Link below:-
Which of these billet wheels would suit a Thirdgen GTA?

true and it would, being over here though i think one would need to see a rim in person before making that decision since there are already so many fine companies here. i think for your situation though it would be a great idea.
