Frost green 3rd gen Camaro!?
I am getting my 86 Iroc preped and primed (love primer cars!) in a few weeks, and I am going to run primer for at least half a year, and during that time I'll be thinking of a color to paint it. I remember seeing a 69 Camaro at a car show that was "Frost Green", I found out that that was a factory color, and found a picture of one:
I was wondering if anyone has a picture of a frost green 3rd gen camaro? I could photoshop one, but it wouldn't be exact, and I'd like to see an exact picture. I have a feeling it will either look great, or it will look terrible, and I can't fisualize it in my head. I'd like to to a color that isn't done often for a 3rd gen.
Anyone got a pic of a Frost green 3rd gen? Or any suggestions as to a color that isn't used much on a 3rd gen (but still looks good).
Thanks!
Daniel

That color went out in the 70s' man. I have never seen it on a thirdgen. I kind of like the color and I kind of don't. It's like a greenish silver. I think it might look good on a thirdgen.
Sometimes I get tired of seeing the same old Blues, Blacks, Whites, Reds, Marroons, and Greys. It would be a nice change up.

Honda Del-Sol green is one of my favorite greens... I may paint my 69 Camaro that color.. The frost green may look nice too.
If you find nobody with this color, have someone photoshop it.

The above green doesn't even look good on that camaro.

Almost any color can look good on a car, depending on how good the paint quality is and how the car is built.
I have seen some colors on cars that I thought made me think twice, like Browns, which is a color you also don't see much of on thirdgens.
How about a dark magenta, not hot pink.
I have only seen Lavender once.
Not to many people with thirdgens get pastel colors, cuz most of them are a bit on the girlish side.

I'm trying to stay away from dark colors... here in Phoenix Arizona, my Black car is to hot! hehe!
Any light color suggestions? (not pink... :P) I think it would be cool to use a 1st gen color, because I'm gonna probably put some Torq Thruster D's on is soon, it might look a bit nostalgic, Idonno.

yes, when I get the car painted, I'm gonna get the hood slats in black. I dont' know if the Iroc logo would look good or not, I'll have to do some photoshop work and see.
I would really like to do the Frost Green, and if I don't find anything else to suit me, then thats what it will be![Smilie](https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
As far as going primer for a while? Heck yea! I love primer cars (not **** with just primer GFx tho). I guess I just have a thing for primer. Any how, like ya said, it's my car
hehe!
Thanks for the suggestions guys, keep them coming!

Perhaps a green woodland-pattern camoflauge paint job to show support for the military?
I was actually thinking about hunter green for mine, when I get around to painting it.

Dude, I say go for it. As long as you like it who cares. I think it would look kickass. I have never seen a 3rdgen with it so it would be unique.

won't be for a few months tho, I have to have my tranny rebuilt, and that will set me back alot, so... it will be a while :-/

On my dad's 69 fleetside he has a mint green color, looks very similar and looks real good IMO. It is metalic too. He has the oak bed to match also. Not sure if it would look good on one of our cars but the car two posts up does not look too bad. I think it would be a color where the wheels would have to match "perfectly" though. Not sure if the irocs would, inless they were polished maybe!?!? good luck with your decision. I know it was one of the hardest things to do so far with my car. Looking in a paint book with all types of paint chips 1"x1" is pretty rediculous!

This is a photoshop of the color you want. ITs not a camaro though. I just used a pic of my GTA.

Here it is with some cruddy mapped reflections on the car. Its not the greatest, but I don't want to spend 30 mintutes warping and blending different images to create a realistic reflection. Which is possible. I once created an image for a school project of me posing in front of my brand new "Porsche 911 Turbo". Even my art teacher didn't know it was fake. He only knew cause he saw me making it in class.

I like either of these greens. I shot this paint on a test pannel for a friend of mine.
The lighter is 69 Camaro Rally Green and the darker is 2000 Mustang Electric green metallic

Dont like it, heres a pic of my car for another green option you might not have seen. The people I bought it from custom ordered it in green/grey metallic. It was a vette color that year, ive also seen some impala ss' and a few 4th gens in it. Im gonna do another post with a few more pics in a sec if you wanna check em out.

It's not my taste, but who cares what I think? If you do this, it will definately be uncommon. I really like the color of grngry's car. Never seen that on a thirdgen before, but I'm familiar with it from the Impala SS. I also like the '69 Rally green that Kat posted. Hey, if you're really into the frost green, do it...

yes, I'm digging the thought of frost green on my baby
But, I gotta get my tranny rebuilt, so money will be short for a bit
I guess I have odd tastes... I don't like cowls (prefer the engine sticking threw the hood!), don't like wings, don't like 20's, and I like primer, and odd colors like greens and browns
what ya gonna do, ay? ![Big Grin](https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
sence I'm looking at a 1st gen color, I wonder how the hocky stick and the hood lovers from a 1st gen would look? hm... those are hood "louvers" arn't they?

Wow! that Camaro in grey and black primer camouflage looks AWSOME!!! j/k
I'm not much into greens, but if you do paint it frost green, I think it would be interesting, to duplicate some striping from the SS 1st gen cars, not in black, but in white, so it would be more subtle, and look better (they were available in black or white). For an idea of the stripes, check out the limited edition Hot Rod Camaros.
Keep in mind, that the color you choose, should coordinate with your interior color (if not, the carr will suddenly turn horrible to onlookers the first time you open a door).
If it's black, you can pretty much put any color you wish on it. If it is grey, go to the cooler tones, like white, silver, blue and all their shades
If it is tan, you can go to white, greens, burgundys, etc.
If I were changing the color in my car, I think I would go for:
BMW Charcoal metallic
The deep blue in Firebird Formulas
Mercedes Silver
I'm happy with my white car, when it comes time to repaint it, I will stick to that color, but mix the '03 BMW alpine white, metallic pearl over it would be nice too.
Happy paintin' (and don't run too long on primer, it absorbs moisture, and gets contaminated from airborne pollutants, probably will have to re-shoot a bit of primer, before painting)
