Car: 1984 Berlinetta
Engine: 305
hi my name is justin and I have a problem.... my car doesn't have enough power....but i'm working on an IROC to solve that problem . anyway my brother had a 6cylinder camaro for his first car so that always got to me and my dad had a long history of muscle cars (2 vettes, 3 trans-ams (2nd gen) 2 chevelles, 1 nova 2 gtos and one was very nice) so it is kinda bred into me and when my grandparent's found one nearby them for sale for cheap and still with first owner i couldn't resist. and so i bought melissa a 1984 berlinetta with a 305.... so it has begun

Car: 82 Camaro & 07 Silverado
Engine: 350 (70 Chevelle)
Transmission: 700R4 - Auto
I've owned 4 thridgens, 89 RS, 84 Z28, 85 Z28 and currently an 82 Camaro. Bought my first thridgen, an 89 RS with 305 tbi, out of neccasity. My truck was dying, and I found the mare sitting in a small dealership for 6K. Drove that car to the grave, while developing a love for the power, mind you every vehicle I had before that was a 4 banger, so even the enemic 305 felt powerful. Wrecked the car and spent the insurance money on an 84 Z28 with a blown motor. The day I dropped it off at the shop for a new motor, 70's LT1, my wife found out we were expecting our first child, so ended up selling car. December of 02 I found an 85 Z28 sitting in the lot of a dealership so I bought it, then over summer I found my latest toy for sale at a car show. I've since sold the 85 and have plans to finish the 82, mostly small things. I've gone back repeatidly to the third gen because I love the lines of the car, and I love how the car feels when you crusin down the highway.

Well... my car was totally unplanned.... one day my mom came home and said there was a 2nd gen T/A like her old one that she saw... said me and my dad should check it out. When we looked, it had a hurst shifter, bad interior, and rust bubbling up damn near everwhere... While we were looking, a guy pulls up in a van and asks how much the car is... we told him, and he said "Well hell, my car is in better shape then that and I'm asking less" So we got directions and went and checked it out... '87 Z28, didn't look too bad... was unlocked too lol. Wrote down the number and such, and that night my dad said we were gonna test drive it... a few minutes into the drive my dad said "We're getting this car" and i was psyched like you wouldn't believe... 15 year old, and his dad wants to let him get a Z28? HELL YEAH. We get my money out, and have it in the driveway the next monday. I learned it wasn't really a 350(as many of us got screwed on I believe) and that it was a 305 TPI.... joined TGO a few weeks after I got her and have been soaking up info ever since. Car has come a LONG way, I keep saying I should go back and show this guy his car.. he had to get rid of it cause there was a baby on the way and him and his wife needed a family car... not long after we got it we notied the rear end had a tag that said "Limited Slip Differential fluid only" and we said to each other "We've got posi traction." and this led me to run my RPOs through TGO...

anyway, I'm 17 now.... and my car has these mods

Gutted airbox, K&N filters, TPI Airfoil
SLP Y-pipe, Cat delete, 3 inch Hooker Aerochamber catback
Eibach Pro-kit springs, Spohn subframe connectors
17x9.5 inch Ronal R15 "Firehawk" wheels, P275/40-ZR17 Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s
15% smoke tint, custom mesh grille, new "Camaro" grill, new louvers, tail light blackouts, new paint, clear signals, new parking lamps, sylvania silverstars, and hours and hours and HOURS of cleaning.

Wel It's kinda of a long story but here we go. Back in 94 when i was 21 i had bought my first third gen. It was a red 92 z28 with the 5.7. I loved this car but never did any motor mods only appearance ones (window tint, wheels). Well the window tint and speed quickly got me into a lot of trouble. So i got rid of it in 96 but swore someday when i am older to get another one. So in the spring of 2001 when Dale E. passed he gave me inspiration to buy another one. So i set out to find another one in good condition. The first one i looked at was a piece of ****. It had 70,000 on it and the paint was garbage. The next one was in Detroit,MI and i from Chicago,IL. This was the car. I say was because the deal fell through. The guy backed out at the last minute. It was a red 92 w/18,000 on it. Just like the one i used to have. So from there the white z's started to catch my eye but the problem with those was that most of them have red interior. I hate red interior. But as luck may have it i found a white 92 w/ red stripes w/58,000 and tan interior(very good condition). I didnt like the tan interior at first but it kinda grew on me. From then on i have spent a lot of my time adn money making this car look as good as it possibly can. I won a car show last year with it. Completly suprised the **** out of me. And that's my story.

I have always like third gens... I guess because of the styling. The main reason I have a third gen is that I liked this particular car- I didn't set out to buy a third gen.

Well I originally wanted a Bird as my first car. It had to be black w/ T-Tops. I found the exact one I wanted and $2500 later it was mine. Then I blew 3 700R4's and I got rid of it. I then bought a 99 Red Grand Am GT 3.4L. I loved that car but my wife totalled it. Then I purchased another 3rd gen. This time I got ripped off. It was an 87 Bird 5 speed Blue/Silver two tone hardtop for $5000 (eeeek). Well the LG4 decided to blow after I owned it for 3 months. So then I purchased my 2000 GAGT V6 an I love this one too and still own it. However me and my wife are having a baby and we need another car for me (she gets the GAGT). So I got my buddy's 90 Iroc for a steal at $1500 because it needed a coolant temp sensor. So I will be driving this as soon as I get done with basic training and job training. for the Army and get on base. I leave Dec 31 for basic so I won't be on for 7 months Going to SC and then AZ for job training.

I've always been a fbody fan. I fell in love with the Firebird from watching K.I.T.T. I have always like the T/A better than the Camaro. So when the opportunity came up in '98 to buy a mint low mileage '88 GTA I couldnt pass it up. I will always own this car, I'm gonna pass it on to my son some day. The plan is for next year to own another '87-'90 GTA.

I was 18 and getting ready for my first car, which was more than likely going to be some 4 door japanese POS. So, I started hunting down cheap V6 F-bodies. I really wanted one because of KITT. I almost got a V6 2000 Firebird brand new after my mom offerred to pay for half of it. I let that one go. Found a 1994 T/A that was white with T-tops and was set on buying that one for $12,000. It was sold the day I was going to go take a look at it.

In furstration, I searched Autotrader and found my gunmetal 91 GTA that same day. Drove up next weekend and got it. My mom took the whole bill and made it my high school graduation present. Car was bought for $7500 and had only 38,500 miles on it. Three years later, I've gotten many other presents, but nothing ever compares to this car.

I have always wanted a muscle car, ever since i read my first article about them as a 12 year old. Have been reading Hot Rod and the likes ever since. Actually, this reading is what made me learn english.. lol.

In my country muscle cars are quite expensive, and I really didn't want a cheap crappy one when I was getting my first one. After being through a Harley period, and getting a house and education and job, I finally had the cash needed this spring and bought my Formula for $13 000. Over here that was a bargain. New 2003 z28 costed $132 000!! Very little used, only 80k km on the odometer. Now only needs some performance mods to get it right.

Love my car, everyone goes "holy crap.." Win the lottery or somethin?

when I was younger my dad bought a 1990 Camaro RS. I loved the car as soon as I saw it, and he always told me that it would be mind....but when I was 12 he sold the car to my brother...so I was sure I wasnt going to get it, then my friend and i were driving around in his mustang one day and we see this baby blue 91 camaro rs with ttops and it had a 3.1, it had aftermarket rims too. well I checked out the price and they were asking 3500, and I was only 14 so I couldnt buy the car. A couple weeks later it was gone so I figured it was sold..then when I was almost 16 I saw the car again in the same front lawn, for sale again. well My dad and i test drove it and there was nothing wrong with it so we bought it for 3500. well after a year my brother offered to sell me the 90 camaro that my dad had sold him. so I sold my car for 1900..I beat the crap out of it...and bought his for 1900. It had sat in a barn with a cover on it up until I bought it. he had driven a total of about 5,000 miles with it since he owned it. Well I have that car now but then engine went out b/c of me being stupid and not caring for the engine. Well It has a 350 about ready to go in it. And now I own an 88 IROC on top of that. All of this in two years. I'm 18

always been a gm fan here, barrowed sons cause my pontiac was in the shop, traded my pontiac in next week for an iroc, son told me it was ok that iroc was red like his was, had iroc for two years and found the dream car, 92 heritage z, many options low miles lady ordered and driven, had 36k when i bought it 2 years agon, and now has 40k. could not bear to drive 92 as daily driver so still have iroc, and drive 92 when weather is good, or just want to feel the rush of horsepower that only a great car can bring!oh yea, i am an old man here, like 45, but feel 25 everytime i drive em !

One, 92 heritage Z28, those are some nice cars !!! WOW,

Two, I bought mine (86 Iroc) when i was 19, I really wanted a 4th gen, but at the time (1999) they were way too much for me. I have always wanted a Camaro, and I started researching the 3rd gens. The body style is awesome, and its a fairly "simple car". The interior is clean and I just loved the "race car" feel when I first sat in one. I was actually thinking about selling it a year ago! What was I thinking??!!! Also, alot of cars nowadays have plastic body panels. My dads 97 'maro had metal rear quarters, I just think the metal panels on my 3rd gen looks soo much better. After it is cleaned and waxed, it just seems to shine/mirror finish way better than the plastic ones nowadays. Maybe its just me?

The cars are sweet ***, nothing more to it. Love the 3rd gens. Plus i got mine for 1000 and it kicks any $16,000 dollar honda with $5k in ground effects, $2K in sound, neon lights, gay euro lights, sh*t sounding "high performace muffler" *** and whatever other crap it has. Stock

I seriously doubt that man, You have a 305. Like it or not (believe me i dont like them either) those cars can be made very fast. The guy down the street from me has a crx si thats a 10 second car. Plus a stock 305 isnt crap. I remember driving a guy i work withs car with a rebuilt 305 in it and i wasnt impressed. Yes 3rd gens are beautiful cars. but a stock 305 isnt winning many races.

undoubtly there are some very fast ric3 burners, and i aint saying my car is faster then a real tuner, or dragster, but the type of crap that is driving around here in washington is beat driving my Ford Windstar. But i do agree to your point that i would get my *** kicked by quite a few of them

note: all the "mods" listed above arn't actual high performace mods for sport compacts. They are things that the avarage kid will buy for the car his parents bought him, so that it will at least look more like something from "The Fast and the Furious"

Car: '89 Formula

i like them. I got to the point that it didn't matter, firebird or camaro, i didn't care. Then I bought a '89 Formula (with friggin' ZERO performance options ) in pretty rough shape cosmetically, inside and out. but this is a tale for another time

My parents had a Camaro when I was little, I loved that car (even though now I know it was but a 6 cyl, '84 or '85 I think), and plus KITT was the s*** .

Thus I am rescuing a poor Formula that could have been bought by someone who doesn't care, and would rag it out more than it is.

I guess I fall into the group of kids that saw Knight Rider on TV when I was little. Mom watched it for David Hasselhoff, I watched it for KITT. Always liked how the Firebird's looked since. Never got too warm and fuzzy with Camaro's, but after I realized that they were the exact car underneath the sheetmetal, I warmed up to them, but I've always wanted to own a 3rd gen Trans Am. Just something about the total lack of radiator grille, y'know? Oh well, I guess the ryser bug didn't catch with me, I stayed loyal to my childhood dream and got what I wanted... A GTA.

I'm the biggest Chevy fan that I know. My first 2 vehiculars (non-Chevrolet) were nothing to brag about, and were unreliable to boot. When I turned 18 I came apon some money left to me when I was born. The first chunk of that was dedicated to getting me a car that I could rely on for years to come. I knew right of the bat I was either getting a Silvarado or a Camaro. After many nights of debate I decided I was going to hunt down a Z28 4thGen. After looking for a few weeks, I came across the picture at the bottom of this post on AutoTrader. It honestly didn't look too apealing to me and I didn't even want a 3rdGen but SOMETHING was telling me I needed to go see this car! Obeying my instincts, I gave the owner a call. When I got to the guys house he opened the garage/shed in the back yard and handed me the keys. I started her up and didn't even have to drive it to know that was the car I wanted. It felt so right I got goosebumps (which I'm getting right now just thinking about it) I took it for a drive around the block, came back, got out, said "Do you take cash?" then brought him the money. That was July 7th, 2002 and still to this day I feel like that every time I start my car. She will be mine till the day I die...

I love my Chevy! My friend had one when I was in high school back in the day. It was a 67 red Z28. I also had an aquaintance who's boyfriend raced them and I got to go for a ride in his 69 Z28. OMG it was fast. A pure racer, not really meant to be driven on the roads but she did anyway. Then I met a girl, got married, had kids and couldnt get my own because I was supporting them. Two years ago I picked up a '71 Chevy truck with a 400ci in it. My son rear-ended someone with it. I took the motor out and had it rebuilt for 450hp and the rest is history. Bought an 85 Z28 because I wanted fuel injection. Something I could race and also use as a daily driver. Check my sig to see some of what I have done to it. Last year I had my 16 year old son put the word CAMARO on the roof in lights for XMAS...This Year I had him put up the Chevy Bowtie!!! Everyone comments about it! Drives the wife crazy! She doesnt understand why I spend money on my "Z" just to make it go faster. She doesnt drive it nor does she want to .
She is happy with her Plymouth Voyager...

Back when I was around 15, '94, where I worked I was waiting for a ride home and a gary 3rdgen Camaro pulled through the parking lot. It was loud and shook the ground like hell, I wa slike damn tHATS KICK *** but I still didnt know **** about fbods didn't even know 4thgens were realted to 3rdgens and I didn't even pay attention to 4thgens at the time. Hell I couldn't even tell the difference between a camaro or bird all I knew about them was where I came from gang members drove them (3rdgens). It was weird because the next day I went into my matchbox collection and pulled out a '85 blue Iroc and kept it on my desk. But still really didn't knoe it was even a camaro.

At 18 I was into jeeps. Looking for a cj or early 4.2 yj. I went to an auction and saw a blue 3rdgen camaro. felll in love with it. Didn;t win it. Still looking for a jeep though. for the hell of it I had my dad get list of camaros for sale and for some reason fox body stangs (almost went to look at one that had 500hp daily driver for $4200) but the first camaro I came across on the list was the car I have today. What got me was the add said something like "comes with the 350!!!!" the 350 was in bold. my dad thought it was too powerfull for my first car and lied and said he called the guy and said it was sold. I knew he was lieing. Long story short I was a teen, I doubted him, I got the car and will always have it.

well my love for maro's started about senior year in high school when i wasnt into cars and of my buddies got me into them thru camaros. i got my licensce when i was 19 (yea i knoe but whatever) and soon after started lookin for a car. browsin the net i came across a nice lookin iroc. I instantly fell in love with them. so after several months of showing my dad iroc after iroc he got the picture. we drove 20 mins from where i live and checked out this black 86 iroc that was on autotrader. man this thing was beautiful 85k original miles on (has 92K now) new paint job perfect interior except for the sagging headliner. this car was what i dreamed of. the rest is history. over a year later i love my car well when it runs properly but its always small things im too lazy to fix. anyways i plan on having this car as long as possible until one day it will be replaced by a LS1 WS6. that wont be anytime soon tho.

I was raised in Detroit, where everybody around you works for one of the Big Three. Where I was taught that real cars have more than four cylinders (preferably twice that many) and that torque is more fun than horsepower. Where the smell of fresh exhaust from a just-started Pontiac big-block on a cold autumn morning was almost as pleasant as the scent of gasoline.

F-bodies have always been in my blood. My parents were brought together in the seventies because of a Trans Am. Ever since there has been at least one in the garage. When I was a kid my dad had a '79 Smokey & the Bandit Trans Am special edition (he has since given it to me) and I loved that car...it was like the coolest car in the world...the shaker hood, the whine of the T-10, the big gold phoenix kissing the hood...

Then, while growing up, I became addicted to Knight Rider. Being a kid, I didn't realize that KITT was a Trans Am at first -- I just loved the red scanner light, the cool dash and all the stunts -- and then when I found out it was a T/A, it was even better. Since then I'd always wanted a black Firebird just like KITT...I bought a 4th-gen Ram Air Trans Am when I went to college, but it wasn't quite the same. (Don't get me wrong -- it was fun, so I kept it!) But the beautiful lines and the ahead-of-its-time design of the third-gen Firebird was always my ultimate dream. Given a choice between any of your standard European exotics and a nice third-gen F-body, I would take the F-body without a doubt. (Unless I thought I could resell the exotic for big cash and then buy a REALLY nice F-body. )

Finally, this past October, I got my last vehicular wish -- I found a black-on-black '89 Formula 350 for sale in suburban Ohio, and flew all the way up from Florida to take a look at (and eventually purchase) it. The Formula has seen three owners prior to myself, has accumulated nearly 225,000 miles and has had most of its major mechanicals rebuilt. For all of that, it runs beautifully (with a bit of weirdness left to work out) and has loads of potential given what I want to do with it.

I keep the '98 WS6 as a daily driver, and the '79 Bandit as a pleasure mobile (it's still in Detroit)...thus, my screen name for the last few years has been BanditWS6. (It still works, because the Formula has the WS6 package too.) The Formula is a project car which I can work on and enjoy now that my wife and I finally own our own home.

That's how I got my third-gen, and it will always be with me.

Well being a girl that grew up in a house of all girls I don't really know where that passion for the thirdgens came from...i have always loved them and when i turned 16 my first car was an 85 camaro. ever since then i have not owned a car that wasnt a thirdgen. i am on my (3) thirdgen now and i still love them more than anything thats come out since....if i had my way i would own one of each year in both the camaro and firebirds..but since i am not made of money i will stick with my 92 trans am ..and make it as nice as i can... and i will eventully get a 92 camaro also since that has to be my favorite year for them.:hail: :hail: besides its always fun to see guys reactions when i pull up in my ta and a girl gets out....LOL

My dad had an 86 Red TA with t-tops. Here in ohio, i remember how cool it sounded whenever he tried to get the dang thing up the driveway in the winter spinning the rear tires. I loved them ever since. Some of my friends at school were into ricers, and i hated them. Anyways i really wanted just a plane jane 3rd gen and the motor didn't even matter. Then, there was a shop behind my girlfreinds house, there was an 86 IROC with a 305 that was wrecked sitting back there for about a year.. My dad didn't like the idea of having all that horsepower, so he said i could buy another car, or wait until i was 18 and i could get a camaro.. Yeah, i wasn't about to buy a stupid honda, so i called the guy that had it.. He was just going to take the car and do a burnout until it blew up. I had to save it. I offered him 600 for it, and december 3, 2002, the relationship began. Since then , in March 2003 i bought another one for parts. The many night i had spent on Autotrader just looking for one, just to own an camaro, and now i owned 2 IROC's!!!!!
I'm proud of mine, and it's still in a million pieces. May 25 2004, and it'll roll out of the shop.

No more Fords

I grew up on Chevys. I strayed away and now I'm trying to come back.

I had an Acura Integra GS-R, and LOVED it. Till it was gonna cost me $1600 to replace the clutch. It was my only car so I traded it in on my current daily driver... a Crown Vic.

I've been looking to get back into a sportier car. I looked at Porsches. The ones I could afford were gonna need a rebuild soon, ehich start around $8000. I looked at Corvettes, but they only have two seats. If I drive to work and have to come get the boys from school I'll have to stop at home first and change cars. So I wanted a 2+2. I looked at Mustangs, but I didn't really fit comfortably and got scared away by the need to changed the suspension according to Grassroots Motorsports. I tried an RX-8. They are fast enough up top, but you never know it until you look at the speedo. So I picked a Camaro. I would have preferred a 4th gen hardtop 6-speed, but they are out of my price range realistically. I found this one on ebay . I had to drive a couple hundred miles to tow it home. It is my work in progress, but I'm happy.

I used to go around the neighborhood and draw pictures of 3rd gens when they were new (84ish) when I was a kid.

My dad brought me up with his '68 Camaro SS 396. He sold it and bought an 86 Z28. So Ive been around and always wanted a Camaro.

After a few S-10s with v8's I decided to get what I had always wanted, and the v8 was standard. I fell in love with this car(pics) so I bought my 89 FF 350.

Was told to buy a "reliable" honda or bmw by everyone i know...but i saw the light and bought my 85 Z28 in September 5th 2003 for my 17th birthday. Best choice I ever made. I can safely say I have the coolest and fastest car of my high school.
(typical other cars - 92 acura intergra (friend's), some hondas, old jeeps, and some old bmw's)
(by old i mean 80's early 90's)
-this makes everyone born in the 60's and 70's...no affense your some of the wisest people in the world.

i knew jack about cars at the time... my family is a ford family, not really they love all the ford hot rods, but they all work there. i never really was into cars... but i always had a thing for them, i was always curious about how they worked, what ones were fast and why they were. in highschool i had machine shop but not auto and would bug my friends in auto with questions when they talked about cars. i drove around in a tempo so i never really cared about speed... at the time i thought it was kind of a dumb thing to do. then i needed a new car and my dad who never talked to me for 16 years called for my mom but i answered. he asked how i was and **** and he asked about me needing money for a computer and a car... he sent me 5 grand. i couldnt believe it. so i go out looking for a car... i wanted a monte SS real bad. i still knew nothing about cars and kept getting disappointed cause they all had 305's... i just knew i wanted a 350. i passed up many a nice montes cause of that fact

and then i saw it. rusted and red for 1600, my 87 L98 formula... i got in, gave 1/4 throttle, and i almost shat myself i get onto the street and my mom wont let me push it... i told her i had to to make sure it was ok and all... i gave it 3/4 and the more the pedal went down the more i loved it. i bought it, kinda modded it, intake, remove ac, hedders, full exhaust no cat, my first burnout was glorious to me, and when i was with my friend and floored it for the first time from a stop and the car peeled into 2nd.... was just... wow

I see a lot of third gens around where i live and now i'm really starting to want one. I always see them on the parkway and i love the way they look. I'm thinking of buying one when i graduate but most of them have poor bodies. I need something with few if any dents and dings. That just pisses me off.

I bought my Formula from my friend, he paid 6500 for it in 97 and it was stunning...nicest looking car at my school inho, I bought it this past year, paint and body in almost flawless shape (1 scratch ) and the interior still smells brand new.... I've wanted that car since I first saw it when I was 17, im 23 now and it is mine. It is a flawless 87, of course the engine tranny and spoiler are removed awaiting their new counterparts.

Ps. KITT kicked *ss.
